I find most of my music in the trash.

Some I have to scrape off the walls/bottom of my shoe/back of forehead.

so what is the point of paying for music if i can get almost equal quality from illegal free music?

Maybe because it's supporting the artist? Some people enjoy having something to hold and display, or physically sift through their records.

This is true if you really like the artist the best way is to do this probably.

I buy them. smile.gif

It's better, cooler and more fun to listen and have the music in CD's/LP's or Casette's tounge.gif

I second that.

I like having the physical CD's, reading the pamphlets inside, and I actually DO use the CD players in my house.

Also, I totally support the artists, like Moonshield said.

Not even in the slightest, if you like an artist don't buy their CDs, go to their concerts, since Record Labels take the vast portion of the money that comes from album sales while the bands themselves receive the majority of the proceeds from live shows rather than the label.

Here's a good article on that subject and music piracy in general.

I love this line: "In this sense, Oink was not only an absolute paradise for music fans, but it was unquestionably the most complete and most efficient music distribution model the world has ever known."

When the man took down Oink, two new sites came to life - Waffles.fm and What.cd. I don't know much about Waffles, nor would I like to because it looks like crap, but What has over 1,000,000 torrents which is, I think, some three times more than what Oink ever had. The RIAA and their global counterparts can keep on trying, but ultimately it's just a waste of time and energy.

I get most of my music from piracy.

I get most of my music through torrents. But I do try and go to the shows of bands I like and it's already been said that bands receive a good amount of money from concerts.

My local stores only have very small sections for music, and most of it is mainstream stuff. It's nothing I like so I download them from illegaly. The closest Wal-Mart or Target or whatever is about an hours drive away. Unfortunately, so is Gamestop. That is why I have steam, but that is another story.

I don't have the money to buy every song I want, so honestly, most of it's illegal. But iTunes is a motherf*cker. Now a single is $1.29, an album goes from $10- $16? What kind of sh*t is that? File sharing is more convenient. Even if I support the artist, I don't feel like iTunes or Target really deserves my money, and Walmart has a sh*t CD selection. The only time I actually pay for music is when there's a hard to find song (or fake downloads), or if I have an iTunes card for whatever reason.

I mean, if I pay $12 for a Nas album, I doubt he's really getting more than $2 off that particular purchase. Damn record companies snatch everything else up like the fat bully snags candy from the little kids.

Legally. As a DJ, I value my music enough to actually pay for it. They need the cash.

No point of buying from iTunes, they do not sell 320 files.
