GTA IV running slow...wth?

Ive got a Vaio that is roughly two years old. However, its fairly spec'd. The last game I played on it was Mass Effect and The Witcher in which they both ran flawlessly on maxed out specs. I recently picked up GTA IV for $20. I popped it in, installed it and ran it.

 

It runs TERRIBLE. I have to run crazy low settings in the game just to get it to play smoothly..somewhat. I even cut down the windows theme to nothing but performance. What the hell is going on? This machine can dedicate a solid 1GB on it graphics card for blu-ray. Why cant it fricken play GTA?

It sounds about right and to compare GTAIV to Witcher and Mass effect performance wise is ridiculous.

 

You can try using memrestrict to see if it can help with anything.
