Phil45 Posted December 8, 2010 Share Posted December 8, 2010 I had both the pc version(1080p fully maxed out-->1203 MB vram) the last week running on a I7-920/9GB/2GB GTX460..ect, alongside the X360 version, and for the first 18 missions, there is a serious lack of pedestrians on the streets compared to the console version. For instance just after the opening scene when Niko walks outside at 6am or so, there are so few peds on the street from 6am until even noon. While on the 360 version there are times where 40+ peds are visible compared to say 10 or so on the pc. Personally this is killing the feel of LC for me, it really is, and it feels alot like a ghost town of a big city, compared to the 360 version. And then there are many strange a.i routines of the npc cars, where if they stop near each other..they just stop and don't attempt to even move. Hopefully i can add a mod here to add more 'life' to LC, as the game looks so lights yrs better then the console version. But now i see why many have complained about this being a bad port..wow. Whereas on the PC it varies wildly so they likely err'd on the side of caution so on crappy machine a billion peds (AI->CPU) wouild make it come to a crawl. You can edit files to make it populate densities across the time spans however you want. You can also create (or get) scripts that boost ped densities and car densities too. I figured it was due to the pc side where code is needed for so many configs. Also, when i dropped the draw distance from 100 to 30, the peds started to increase. It's too bad R* did not add a option for ped ammount in the gfx options. Thankfully the mod community did so, as well as so many sweet features such as FP mode and others. TIA With the pc version R* were able to have more valuse.For instance not every car has the same amount of reflections.And in real life at 6am you dont see 40+ peds walking around,you see 10 and so on.
