The diamond deal

Lately I played TLAD another time and despite we don't know who escaped first (Johnny or Niko) I got a few questions.

From vanilla, I see it like that:

 

Ray Boccino "hired" the Lost to steal the diamonds worth 2 million dollars.

He also hired Niko to assist Johnny during the deal. In vanilla Ray says:

"You give Johnny half the money, the rest you bring back to me. It'll be cool, keep things on a level." So Ray and the Lost would each make 1 million dollars.

 

Luis shoots the place up and Johnny uses this opportunity to escape with the money. (like he predicted...he wanted to steal from Ray if he gets the chance)

 

 

Now my questions:

Who are the guys arriving at the north/back entrance? Johnny says Ray's guys.

In the Libertonian are plenty of italian gangsters as well...the ones with the big belly, some wearing tracksuits, the other ones fine suits.

The rest are Isaac's guys. So the italian guys gotta be Ray's...not?

 

What were they doing there? Is this a mistake by Rockstar? I mean, Ray sends Niko to oversee the deal. Why does he send hitmen there as well? I thought Ray doesn't want no attention and people to notice this deal is set up by him/the diamonds were stolen by him/hide it to Pegorino.

 

As I see it, Ray has been straight with the Lost and Niko. He wanted everyone to get their shares.

Johnny was the one who betrayed Ray.

 

EDIT: also, Ray has good reason to kill Jim or whoever. Somehow it's portayed like Ray would be the rat who stabbed them in the back but is he really?

Second, the south entrance is blocked off by the Jewish Mob (Where Niko escapes), and the North entrance is blocked off by Ray's goons(Where Johnny escapes).

Don't you think that Isaac and his "mafia" might try to steal the diamonds after/or during the deal? There are too many jewish goons just for peaceful exchange. There were only two guys on Ray's side and whole bunch on the other side. This seems a little strange. I know this is only a game and it would be strange if you don't have to shoot your way thru two dozens of goons, but Isaac was having half of his army there.

Ray isn't bad at all. He is straight with Johnny. Johnny is the one who turns on Ray and if it's about the diamond thing, I would be on Ray's side.

Ray wanted to pay Johnny. And 1 million dollars are no peanuts (to some bums like the LOST). Johnny became greedy and his ego couldn't stand that Ray f*cked Ashley.
