MyDog it is not just because he is good looking. I think he was a well-designed character, with a good voice acting, and good missions. I think you're only saying Ray is gay to annoy me, because I've never seen somebody thinking he is gay!!

I even gotta agree with you about certain things.

Ray was well designed and had very good missions. (except for TITT - taking in the trash)

 

He was no rat, neither was Phil.

 

Pegorino just wanted to set an example by taking out someone so high in the organization.

It is implied that Ray wants to take over, climb up the ladder in the organization...f.e. the DIAMOND DEAL. Ray hired the Lost in the first place to keep a low profile and he didn't tell Pegorino about it. (Phil says that in "no way on the subway")

 

in TLAD Ray is pretty much the same like in Vanilla. He is friendly to Johnny. the latter turns on Ray as soon as he finds out that Ray has something to do with Ashley.

 

however, I liked Ray better when I just had to work for him.

But after the Diamond deal he became somehow...can't find the proper words to describe it. But he is such an ass-kisser in "pegorino's pride" and his calls after this mission and his acting during the cutscene to Pest Control....he really lost his appeal to me and if we had a decision to make.

 

KILL PHIL or RAY, I would always kill Ray and as you can see in my sig, I did it.

He was only friendly with him. If you thought that, just because Ray was friendly with Niko, he is gay, you also think Little Jacob is gay. I think Brucie Kibbutz had a crush on Niko, and maybe Packie McReary, he was weird, and do you remember they talking about the prison experiences?

Since the beggining of the game I'd like to take the Trashmaster and act like a LSD worker Yes I understand you, Ray wasn't so submissive like Phil. He liked to do things that Jimmy didn't know about it, like the Diamond deal. Maybe that's why Jimmy was more suspicious with him. Oh, I never thought that he turned out to Ray just because Ashley! Now I'm curious, I have to play The Lost And Damned!! Yes, he is very ass-kisser, but I think he is very sexy in the mission "Pegorino's Pride". I think that he wasn't very clever being a so clear ass-kisser, it was obvious he was only caring with Jimmy because of power! Phil was more clever, he wasn't so ass-kisser, but he followed the boss orders and he was more friendly. I never killed Ray by shooting, I'd feel very bad to do it, I always kill him shooting a bazooka in the gas station.

junkpile right when Jimmy Pegorino said "I want you to visit our friend Ray", I quitted the game, but my curiosity made me continue the game, after one week. It was awful, but I've never had a "direct conflict" with him, I killed him shooting a bazooka in the gas station. But I've heard he says something, I'm curious to know what he says. But I admit that I thought Ray was going to die early in the game, thankfully he appears in a lot of missions!

I'll be perfectly honest, I never liked Ray. However I do feel his death should have been different. So in my second playthrough, I blew up his friends, chased him on to the bridge, he got out started blasting a shotgun at me, and I unloaded an SMG clip into him.

I would've at least liked some dialogue from Ray while you kill him. I mean at least have Niko shout some stuff at him like "Time to die, Ray!" or anything. I mean what really separates him from the sea of nameless goons we kill over the course of the story?

I don't think Ray is gay, but hey, he says to Johnny:

"I f*cked Ashley and now I'm going to f*ck you."

 

Taking it literally, some might assume he is gay, or at least, bi-sexual.

 

EDIT: oh yeah, here's the cutscene. Since you know that JIM and RAY both DIE this doesn't spoil anything really. And since TLAD is banned at yours, you probably won't ever get to play it, too.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!!! Ray Boccino is the best character, and didn't deserved to die! He was good to Niko. Thankfully in the end Jimmy Pegorino betrays Niko, so guess who was wrong.

Jimmy didnt betray Niko, it was otherwise Niko found a good chance to kill Dimitri so he had to betray.

But in deal, no one betrays, only DImitri betrays Jimmy.
