Akavari
Personally, I felt like Ray Boccino didn't deserve to die. He never wronged Niko aside from a few temper tantrums, and I think the story could have been just fine without him getting whacked. The mission didn't do his death any justice either; it was set up just like any other "Go here, kill some bad guys" mission. You'd think that for a major character such as Ray, there would at least be a cutscene/execution to make it climactic. But perhaps the mission was designed this way to be symbolic of how things are done in the mafia. Even though Ray could have been considered Niko's "friend", if you are ordered to kill someone you do it without hesitation. That's how the mafia works; there are no friends or exceptions, you can get whacked at any time for any reason. What do you guys think of Ray's death? Did he have it coming? Were you excited or reluctant to kill him? Could the mission have been set up better?
Tyla
I would have loved the chance to have spared Ray, not only because it would act as a further catalyst for him to show up at your cousin's wedding and go batsh*t crazy but it would also add some certainty to the fate of the Pegorino Family, which he would most likely have come out of hiding to take over. I think it would have been entirely plausible for him to try and charm his way out of impending death with an offer of money to let him leave alive, but then again it made complete sense he wouldn't accept his death and came at you blasting with a Shotgun when you came for him. I do agree it was very cleverly written to show how the mafia do things though; go here, kill him, ask no questions. Even more so that Pegorino made up the rat excuse to add some weight to his reasoning. Would have preferred to of had the chance to kill him in TLAD, mind you... Even in TLAD I wouldn't see him as an evil guy. Maybe an asshole, since he's pretty much banging your love interest and then making you do his dirty work like you are a jackass. But as for torturing/killing Jim and destroying the clubhouse, I think it was reasonable action for what Johnny had done (stealing millions of dollars from the diamond deal that belonged to Ray). If Johnny hadn't been greedy and didn't try to f*ck Ray over in that part of the story, the Lost would probably still be together since Jim's death and the clubhouse being destroyed by Ray's men seemed to have contributed a lot to the Lost being disbanded. Ash_735
I didn't like Ray, I originally thought it was a bit unfair to kill him in IV but after seeing how he treated people in TLAD just shown how much of a dick he was. Also what the hell is it with Ray? First there was that other dude preaching about how great Ray was and how cute he was and now we have another one! Tyla
His actions were understandable given what the Lost did, I agree, and if someone stole that amount from me I would probably approach getting a resolve in the same fashion. Both Johnny and Ray are as bad as each other but based on impulsiveness alone Johnny should have gone after him just to save face in front of the brothers. The lot of them are hypocrites, none of them seem to mind though as long as they get a pay day. I always got the impression that Ray had got as far as he did through manipulating and double dealing behind his friends' backs. By the time of IV he was too big for his boots, getting in over his head and throwing his weight around. It's only right he got done over in the end. LuisBellic
I used to look at Ray as an asshole. But now I kinda like him. I wish he coulda been spared somehow. I think cidamelo is going to comment this topic.
Barry Spock
Dude, if you're going to bring up plot points from TLAD in this section, use the spoiler tags - not everyone has played it. Pest Control was too easy - a couple of RPGs to the petrol pumps and you're basically done.
AceRay
Ray is gay with Talbot. Its obvious, he has sex with the dude (talbot) who leads you to Bernie in weekend at Florian's. Ray is also gay with Bernie. How does he know Bernie? He also seems embarrassed when Niko reveals that the person he needs to find his revenge. Plus, Boccino means "[email protected]" in Italian. It all adds up doesn't it?

cidamelo
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!!! Ray Boccino is the best character, and didn't deserved to die! He was good to Niko. Thankfully in the end Jimmy Pegorino betrays Niko, so guess who was wrong. AceRay I don't think Ray is gay!!! junkpile
I agree. Ray Boccino was straight with Niko, gave him a safehouse, he "found" Bernie Crane and also paid you quite a lot. But him is another example that in the criminal underworld, you don't always have to kill "bad guys"...sometime you do sh*t you don't wanna do. I am glad they didn't put in an execution scene...it wouldn't fit. @cidamelo: Jimmy Pegorino NEVER betrayed Niko. But the other way around. Before we start a discussion: in "one last thing" Pegorino (who acts like an asshole) tells Niko to do the deal. Niko obviously doesn't want to. But in the end Niko says ALRIGHT and Pegorino "I knew I could count on you" And Niko doesn't tell Pegorino he takes revenge on Dimitri and relies on Niko doing the deal. Pegorino also doesn't wanna kill Kate...he wanted to hit Niko. And from the start the Peg says "do it or me and you gonna have a problem..." so...if Niko/or you decide to take revenge on Dimitri, Niko/you stab the Peg in the back. MostOfAll
I think it was contradictory to Niko's moral code to kill Ray. Niko didn't even question Jimmy Pegorino about this, and it felt kind of strange to kill Ray.

Mokrie Dela
I think it was contradictory to Niko's moral code to kill Ray. Niko didn't even question Jimmy Pegorino about this, and it felt kind of strange to kill Ray. Jimmy's a bigger fish then Ray. Kill Ray, and that's that. Refuse and the mafia's gonna be on his ass. In the end niko (if choses R) chooses his disdain of Dimitri over the deal, realizing that the pegs are a joke i guess, or just taking his chances. But basically, Niko CANT say no to peg at this point - it'd be too risky. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. cidamelo
AceRay just because Ray knows Talbot Daniels and Bernie Crane it means he is gay? No! He has an affair with Ashley Butler, and when Frankie Gallo dies Phil Bell says Ray would be happy because he always wanted to bang Frankie's wife! AceRay
So? he could be in denial about his homosexuality, and just go around talking about woman and "pretending" to love Ashley. Plus, his obvious crush on Peg, he keeps sucking up to him. this is true proof
Akavari
How did Ray even come to meet Ashley? He's a rich, clean cut mafioso and she's a dirty, slutty biker chick. Maybe it was through Teddy Benevidez since he was a drug dealer...Ashley could have been involved with him too somehow....idk.

You do know who killed Jim, right? Just checking In IV and L&D, the characters are mixed up. IV, we're meant to believe that Jim is the fat bald guy along with some random and L&D, the fat guy is with black Jim. I'm not sure whether Rockstar were trying to cover spoilers in L&D or if it's just a continuity error.
