Hale was breathing heavily. His arms and legs ached with a foreign pain which he was not accustomed to. His eyes were strained on the lifeless corpse in front of him. Its stump where the head usually resided was pouring blood onto the grimy classroom floor by the pints. He had no remorse for the owner of the body. The head had rolled away. He felt a rush of adrenaline flowing through him as a smile protruded onto his face. He’d managed to get one of the bastards with minimal effort as he slid into the darkest corner of the classroom and waited until one of the Skinz had his back turned. He felt proud, this was the first kill. As Hale breathed in the cold air, he scanned his surroundings of Carcer City Elementary. The room was bare, grime and dirt covered most of the areas and like every other sh*thole in Carcer, this was a prime example of it’s spirit.

 

He had no idea where the school was, but he knew one thing. He knew he wanted to take down as many of the hunters as possible, and he wanted to escape. His feet moved slowly as he crept back over to the corpse. The victim scanned the body for a weapon, and as footsteps began to echo, the glint of a glass shard attracted him. He grabbed it carefully, wrapping a rag around so as not to cut himself. He held it gently as he peeked out, scanning left to right. Nobody was around, for now.

 

Hale’s feet slapped hard on the dirty floor. His body was close to a wall; he was nervous, and not so much because of the situation, but because like every other area of Carcer, this one scared him. The smell, the look, the desolation of the place sent shivers down him. And the fact he was being hunted by the Skinz was not helping either.

 

He hit a junction in the hallways relatively quickly. His mind jumbled as he decided which way to turn. If he headed left, he would have been met with the Nurse’s Office, and of course if he headed right, he would head to the Principals office. “Decisions, decisions.” He whispered to himself shaking. Whatever way he went, he was sure he was going to hit another Hunter. Fear hit him slowly as he realised the hopelessness of the choice and so he moved left, hoping to find a window to jump out of. The hallway was grimier than the previous one, graffiti lit up the hallways as in thick red paint. The walls were coated in slogans such as: We’re gona find you piggy! Lazy bones lazy bones red and white lazy bones and one of the slogans which disturbed Hale the most: I murdered a 17 year old ni**er here in this buildin. Hale moved quicker, he needed to find an exit, the Skinz were sadistic and since he was the mouse, he decided to move into the office to barricade himself.

 

He moved quicker, almost running; not caring if he was caught or not. He needed to find the exit as soon as possible. Each hallway got longer and longer, like the entire building was turning into a maze. He scanned the walls which seemed to get grimier and grimier. Eventually his running stopped and he skidded to a tumble. As he peered upwards he realised that he was near a window, a flicker of light was blasting onto the broken glass above Hale. He stared out and noticed a burning trashcan. A shadow stood next to it was smoking, and as his eyes strained further, Hale realised he was viewing the entire squad of Skinz who were out looking for him.

 

“Percy, go see what Lloyd is doin’.” Ordered a large one, the hockey mask covered his face, muffling his words. A fatter one with white face paint nodded and moved off, his fat body jiggling as he did.

 

“Corporal! Corporal!” came the cry of another gang member, this one skinny and hyperactive. His excitement was evident.

 

“Jenkins got the ni**er! Got ‘im in the head wid’ the bat, he’s alive so we thought we’d bring ‘im to you Corporal.” The southern accent only added to the Skinz stereotype.

 

The leader looked like he was pondering. His arms were behind his back like a Captain to his Army.

 

“Throw him in the Trailer,” he lifted up his mask a bit to wipe his face “I’ll call Starkweather and see if we can stage a fitting execution for the Negro.”

 

sh*t, thought Hale. He didn’t meet the Black guy, but if he had a chance to save someone, he would do it. It was wrong to leave someone like him in his position and the man in the trailer must have feared for his life. A black man and the Skinz would never go together. He slumped down, his thoughts racing. He had a choice. Escape, or save the man he had never met.

 

“sh*t. sh*t. sh*t.” He whispered angrily. His fist ploughed into the floor, causing him to bleed from his knuckles.

 

What was he to choose?

Hehe, well I'm just trying to learn how to write better. Tenses and POV are my main sh*tty areas, and so I put them both into this. I did the Voting aspect because I'd just like to see if people stick to the fundamentals of Manhunt or whether they'd do something else.

 

It's all just practice for me.
