Watercooled
There is a very common yet up till now unfixed issue : NO Menu text upon using ASI loader. CAN anyone fix this problem that many in the community is having ? The general solution has been to reinstall but i'm on STEAM and don't have that luxury. I had to downgrade to 1.0.4.0 from 1.0.7.0 just to play GTA IV with ENB and mods because steam does not allow you to download older versions. This problem may be related to GFWL files introduced after 1.0.4.0. I have tried installing an old version of games for windows and also tried installing the GFWL update at Rockstar's support site. Problem : When using ASI loader or Xliveless or Filecheckfix the text from the main menu, the pause menu and the save game text dissapears. Related Postings : MANY others with the same exact problem but a real FIX was never posted in that thread ! BassamMan : When i start GTA IV and i get to the main menu, theres no words or text or anything. i can hear it switching and start the game but i can't change any options like for graphics i can see the bar, but no words or any descriptions of map icons. can anybody help me with this problem please? i tried replacing the american.gxt and the font files but nothings working. sateguard : I can't see the texts too. Do you have any idea about how to fix it ? tuore : Anyone? Reinstalling doesn't help, so the problem is in the Xlive.dll. I haven't got any mods. Nothing seems to help. The menu texts are just gone. perern : "i can see the menu without text too" nikerossxp : have same troubles like tuore. it happens, when game load any "otherside" dll. my system is windows 7x64. caddys0n22s : It loads fine for me but the menus dont show up.??? i cant see any writing for saved games, or any options...its all blank!!caddys0n22s sateguard : Guys I think I found out why the texts aren't showing... I reinstalled gta 4 and i didn't update games for windows live and so the texts were there... I hope I helped you gerbil21 : my game works but i have no text in the menu and i cant click anything nome : Hey, whenever I download any version, the starting menu has no icons (start game, options, etc.). I'm running the game with the latest patch. Is there a fix? thomwarn : My GTA: IV has no menu buttons. When I start the game, it goes through the intro stuff and gets to the main menu and it has the picture and the Social Club news but there are no menu TestiSkills : The game works great, everything loads up and the player selection mod works. However, all the text on the menus are gone. heat84 : "As for the menu without text, I have no clue and Googling doesn't turn up any answers either. Listener are you listening?" In my perticular case it's steam. Steam does not allow downloading of old versions. To use ENB and other mods I needed to downgrade from 1.0.7.0 to 1.0.4.0. The probable cause (for me at least) is a file introduced in 1.0.7.0 which is incompatible with 1.0.4.0. Do any modders have any idea what files may be causing the menu text to dissapear when using ASI loaders. It seems uninstalling and reinstalling works but I do not have that luxury due to steam. This problem seems to be related to Games for Windows live in some manner. GODV2 said a solution was to delete GFWL installer entries then to verify files using steam so it will replace those files. This no longer works because it automatically updates you to 1.0.7.0. What file or files is causing this and how do we manually replace them without reinstalling ???? Watercooled
GTA IV - NO MENU FIX Is your menu text gone after using an ASI loader such as xliveless ? If you have no menu buttons or your main menu is gone I have found the reason. The cause of the disappearing menu is a version mismatch on the following two files located in the "common\data" folder within your main GTA IV directory. Fonts_r.dat & Fonts.dat These files need to be replaced with the original files. After you do this GTA IV GTA IV's missing menu will reappear .
