yair1221
what happens if i dont export some objects like the wheels in a plane? or i dont export a door... is it like a minigun? i exported a minigun once without the muzzle flash and the minigun2 and it worked great, will a plane be the same? yair1221
so..if i delete the wheels, the plane will still be able to drive on the ground? and does it matters where i put the dummies? i mean, can i just stick them in the middle of the object? Luten
so..if i delete the wheels, the plane will still be able to drive on the ground? The wheels will be invisible and yes the palne will be still able to drive. and does it matters where i put the dummies?i mean, can i just stick them in the middle of the object? They should be stay on the original possitions if you don't want to have problems with vehicle. But when you want to change possitions of dummies you must change poss of object too. Without any problems you can change dummies like: headlight, taillight, engine, exhaust. Edited December 3, 2010 by Luten
yair1221
problem is, i have an object, and i want to turn it into an androm so i take the original androm model, remove all the hierarchy links, and then i put all the dummies on the new plane, but the position will surely change... JohnPro
problem is, i have an object, and i want to turn it into an andromso i take the original androm model, remove all the hierarchy links, and then i put all the dummies on the new plane, but the position will surely change... why would you want to delete the hiearchy links? that would only make more work for yourself. If the positions change then move/rotate to get them how you want it. What exactly is the problem your having?
yair1221
| | | | | the 3 lines are the androm the 2 lines are the Heavy Raider(what im trying to convert) now, it shouldn't have wheels...it just moves with engines...so i should delete all the wheels, but leave the dummies? You have a picture of what a plane with no wheels looks like? Dont delete the dummies you need those for the plane to be balanced when on the ground, the game would probably crash anyway if you deleted them. As for the actual WHEEL model, the trick is to make it invisible without deleting it from hiearchy. So wheel will be under the plane's hiearchy but it does not contain a mesh so its just as if its not there. Usually what I do is delete the entire mesh of the wheel except for 1 face, I then shrink that face really small. I then UVunwrap it so it uses an apha image. (this is my own diy method, there is probably a proper way but this works) You could probably also just move the wheel into the fuselage of the plane where it also wouldn't be seen. If you unlink it to wheel dummy then the wheel wouldn't move when the landing gear is raised/lowered. However I never tried this as my planes have interiors. I am also not sure if unlinking the wheel from the dummy would cause the game to crash, it probably wouldn't if you linked the wheel to chassis. (LINK NOT ATTACH) Good luck! yair1221
something like that my problem is, there are elevators and stuff, things that shouldnt be in the new model so, if i remove them(not the dummies) what will happend?
JohnPro
Nothing should happen, delete the elevators and unwanted parts. Leave the dummies for those parts. Thats all, it should work. As for the wheels you could probably delete the wheel mesh too. Have you created a vehicle before? This is really quite easy, very easy I should say. yair1221
so i can delete the wheels too? and BTW, can i make the LOD model the same as the regular model?
JohnPro
so i can delete the wheels too?and BTW, can i make the LOD model the same as the regular model? Yes you can make the lod same as the original mesh, maybe optimize it a little so you dont get such a big dff file. Try exporting without deleting the wheels, if vehicle works in game then try exporting without wheels and see if it still works. I have tried deleting the wheels but it crashed my game. It could have been some other dummy I deleted a long with the wheel though so im not 100% certain.
