Claude Speed.
Metric system: 100cm = 1m -> 1000m = 1km etcImperial system: 12in = 1 foot -> 3 feet = 1 yard -> 1760 yards = 1 mile  Why do you guys have to make everything so f*cking complicated? Seriously? Point made. And the metric system is used more widely than the imperial one, so f*ck the imperial system.

Svip
Start a let's bash Europe thread, then! Â Or is that too difficult? Â Oh, look at your president, Silly Europeans. From Belgium, nonetheless, what a non-country! And did you even get a chance to elect him? Yeah, democracy, all right, Eurofags. Â And how is that EU thingie going for you, now we are on the subject of European unity? I hear a lot of immigrants are finally coming your way, and with the new European laws regarding border travel, they are free to roam everywhere, which is fuelling lots of right-winged parties with anti-immigration stances. Â It's almost like Europeans are more scared of Muslims than Americans these days. And how about that Euro. Pretty proud of that few years back when the dollar was falling to half its value? Yeah, look at it now, Eurozone faggies. Not so smart with your bailing out of Greece and Ireland, eh?!

Call it a sixth sense, but I knew you would be the one to respond to that first. Â Â And I would have preferred it if we hadn't made our own system of measurement, just complicates things in the long run in terms of NEW WORLD ORDER. ...besides that I ain't sayin nuthin. Seriously? If you think that is complicated you should have seen us in school over here when the US tried to convert to the metric system. We were actually suppose to abandon the imperial system and switch to metric, but I guess we just couldn't grasp the change. That is what I hope - I sure hope we were smart enough to break everything into 10s.  I don't think we would be able to handle ordering wood in any other measurement than a cord.   My crappy games at MyCrappyGames.com Free copy of Save The Puppies and Kittens

I agree that the metric system is indeed smarter, but you can't just snap your fingers and go to the metric system when the imperial system has been in place for so long. Â Though if you're saying that we should have been the whole time, I won't argue that one bit. Edited December 3, 2010 by Runey.

Finn 7 five 11
I prefer the metric, it is more practical, and much easier to make simple calculations with.  DO not get me started on how ridiculous Fahrenheit is this is how you convert Fahrenheit to degrees. What is this? is there no easier way to do it, no not really.   If you want to convert *Temperatures* from Celsius © to Fahrenheit (F): 1) First take the number of degrees on the Celsius scale and multiply it by 9. 2) Next divide that number by 5, 3) Finally add 32.  You Americans are bonkers.  Just so you guys know, when i was at school we learned the metric and the imperial system here in Australia, even though we primarily work with the metric system.  I can understand why you prefer the imperial system though because you are used to it, if you used the metric system and someone said "my house is 140km away" you would in your head roughly convert that to miles. That is what i do except vice versa.

And that is why it failed here when we tried to convert in the 70s.  We were just taught the conversions and expected to convert everything in our heads to what we where familiar with. I'm sure if one entire generation managed to do that then the following generation would have been born metric. It just didn't work out.  Hey, we still buy our soda in 1 and 2 liter bottles. Oddsock
Hey finn, just remember we "bonkers" folks have developed and still are developing some of the most sophisticated technological achievements known to Man. Meanwhile, we come to these things still using our imperial system. Â Just saying, nobody is "bonkers" either way. Just two ways of measuring things, and if they both work, then that's cool by me. Jay
Meanwhile, we come to these things still using our imperial system. You do realise that engineers use the metric system?
