Branimir202
The game is obviously loaded with really depressing moments and really powerful ones as well, which is one of the things that makes it so great. Niko saying that he "deals in death" because its all he knows just came off as sad in a way, basically the only way out of that lifestyle for Niko is when he dies what was your pick? junkpile
The end can be quite depressing. You realize you made a sh*tload of money, have expensive suits and cars, a bunch of safehouses but you lose something or better yet someone more valuable than that. Also, the later/last conversations between Niko and his friends can be depressing. Dwayne f.e. has this thoughts, wants to be a father, but can't read and wouldn't wanna go back to school because it would embarrass him, etc. Packie reveals him and Gerald were molested by their father, that Packie was quite good in drawing or painting but got pulled into this criminal world, etc. just to sum up a few... AlexGTAGamer
The most depressing/powerful moment in GTA IV to me would either be the last cutscene of the last mission on Happiness Island or Niko's war talk with Llyena Faustin. His talk with her was very dark.

His talk with her was very dark. he "war talk" as you call it is one of my highlights. that and nikos convo with roman before and after THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE. Anything insightful really. Niko knows pain, and he deals death because that is all that is open to him - brilliant character developement. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Morsaw
I guess his chat with Roman after executing Vlad is pretty depressing, how he explains his mission and his true intentions.
Whitesteve98
This game was very sad and I found sad after finishing it.. Didn't feel real accomplishing. I'd say in GTA IV the saddest moments were finding Darko and listening to thing he said, Roman and Mallories wedding (either way). After the wedding (sucked real bad) mostly the end. I say The Lost and Damned was sad too, Brian Betraying you, Killing Billy ( ), and Burning down the Clubhouse (made me really pissed off) The ballad of gay tony didn't make me sad at all, it was really boring actually, well I guess they made this one like this to be less Emotionally traumatic. Anyway, I agree with you on what Niko said on the way to Darko's location. In my opinion, Roman's death is darker and more tragic than Kate's death because Roman is Niko's cousin, and Kate is only someone Niko met through the McRearies' missions. I find it surprising how Niko just fell in love with Kate even when she never revealed that much about her personality. Niko is a lot different from that. GTAWithStyle
When I chose the deal and Roman died (I liked Roman). I actually couldn't let it happen so I reloaded my game which I thankfully saved just before the deal/revenge part. I felt sorry for Roman when Niko tells Kate about seeing Roman's mothers raped and murdered body and keeping it a secret from Roman the whole time. I couldn't givea sht about Kate dying since she could mean absolutely nothing to someone who decided to ignore her date requests.

He tried to rape Johnny and Jim during the mission Was It Worth It?. ON TOPIC: I never really liked Ray. I thought he was an asshole for having Jim killed Jim was my favorite member of the lost. I doubt Niko was looking for a wife when he came to Liberty City. He came to get away from his past, and that's why he didn't want to kill anyone at first when he came to Liberty City. bluesboyjr
His conversation with Faustin's wife. Those poor, soulless kiddies with no hands... TBH, that whole cutscene is possibly the best piece of drama I've seen in a video game.

Algonquin Assassin
When you kill Dwayne. Originally I chose to kill PBX, but on my 2nd run through I chose Dwayne, and I still felt regret. Probably the hardest (Emotionally) storyline character kill in the entire series. There are alot of powerful moments in the game which make it incredible. People can say what they like about Niko being a whiner, hypocrite etc, but I loved the way R* made him so deep. The emotional trauma he suffered was portrayed brilliantly. Then of course when Roman died. I thought it was extremely symbolic. It showed money doesn't always buy happiness, and having the game end on Happiness Island to me felt like there was a message. There was no happy ending for Niko. No living happily ever after. He ended back where he started. Payne Killer and IdlePed

MitchMaljers
That cutscene in the kitchen in Drusilla's with Ray and Niko was very dramatic.. You really could see that Niko was tired of Ray's sh*t and wanted a guarantee that he would find Florian/Bernie. Jeansowaty
I find it funny how many people dislike Dwayne because he's "always miserable and can't look at the world optimistically", but they still feel sad when killing him. Personally I think that Dwayne was the character in IV I could relate with the most - his depressive outlook on life, even though it's not that bad... it's like a freaking copy of me at times.
