Randy Teh
I think that GTA IV was released in year 2008 as early alpha version and Ballad + Lost and Damned was ripped from GTA IV and sold as DLC. Also physical engine Euphoria was not a good step - Havok will be 100% better. Your opinion?

junkpile
Still the greatest out there. In this genre at least. The only thing that sucks a bit is there are some plotholes or mistakes...like Jim Fitzgerald (white/black), Diamonds, timeline errors, etc. but I can live with that. Also, EFLC are great but it would have been nice to have more story missions, have 3 games of the same length. The ending in both TLAD and TBOGT feel kind of rushed. In TLAD you reach this zenith in "Was it worth it?" and the next mission is already the last one...with no other highlight. In TBOGT you get introduced to Bulgarin and fight with him side by side, the next day he wants you dead and you kill him...it feels kinda rushed. still great games though. SilentSeas
Although I haven't played it in awhile (Black Ops and ACB have kept me busy), I still love the game. Whilst its still the leading the crime genre, its starting to age graphically and Liberty City has since been beaten by other Sandbox locations such as Empire City in Mafia II and Rome in ACB. In my opinion if R* want to regain their position as the best at making open environments, then their next map needs to be something truly special. @ Randy Teh - To say that Euphoria wasn't a good step is like saying that HD is a bad move. AlexGTAGamer
Even after 2 years GTA IV is still an amazing game to me, I never get tired of playing it. Also I think Euphoria and RAGE were the 2 key factors that made GTA IV different to past GTA games and other games.

Randy Teh
gta 4 alpha? wtf gta 4 release date was on 2008 Yes, GTA IV was released in year 2008 as alpha version. You really think it was final version? And that 8 patches was what? Nothing unusual? It was crappy and buggy alpha version. Ugly shadows, no antialiasing - graphics in GTA IV looks like sh*t and whole game is laggy and slowly thanks to your marvelous combination of RAGE and Euphoria. Drujba_Dreptatii
What I think about it now? Still one of the greatest games of all time. I mean just compare it to it's rivals like Mafia 2 for example, altough they knew what was needed to beat rockstar it's still an incomparable experience and thats couse they didn't use the city they built for anything else but the story missions. Once you finish the story it's over, nothing left to do. As far as story and cinematics go it's said that Mafia 2 is great and I agree but so is GTA4, phsihics are much better in Rockstar's creation, and the city itself it's alive. Maybe you are talking about the console versions of the game to be laggy, to have ugly shadows and all couse I ashure you on my pc it's not the case, graphics being awesome. Either that or you don't have a powerfull enough pc to ru it on max. And if I would not be able to play a game on max graphics I wouldn't comment about that, It's like commenting on a hardcore simracer like GTR2 for example without playing it with a good wheel or any wheel at all. Magic_Al
Havok and Euphoria do different jobs. Havok simulates unscripted physical reactions of solid or jointed inanimate objects or dead or unconscious character bodies. Euphoria simulates unscripted physical behavior of living people and animals. The Force Unleashed uses both Havok and Euphoria for those purposes, plus it uses Digital Molecular Matter which simulates the physics of destructible materials. GTA IV does not use Havok but uses Bullet, which has the same function, but is open-source software that can be used freely without Havok's licensing fee. GTA IV does not have an equivalent of DMM but has some destroyable objects that break into pieces. A game is not "alpha" because it has post-release patches. Incredibly complex software gets patched after it's released because millions of users will find more glitches and exploits than hundreds of testers. That's just reality. coin-god
Play GTA IV on a console and tell me whats Alpha about it. Sure it was a bad PC port. But it wasn't an alpha. And posting an iomage saying I am GAY instead of actually say something makes you look like a stupid kid. And saying you hate IV on every part of your profile makes you look like a retard for joining a GTA forum.

Branimir202
Gta IV feels like one of those timeless games to me, after 2 years I still enjoy it every bit as much as I did when it first came out. To be honest I probably enjoy it a little more even since i've adapted to it lol Amazing game, all around
win001
2 years from now there will be a patch that will annihalate and erase GTA 4 from your hard drive. If that does not happen then Secucrash will take over and make your game unplayable and uninstallable.
dafour
I must say the game today is a huge improvement over the IV from 2008 1.0 version. Game runs smoother, less bugs... The game is just starting imo, mods are here to stay and so on. Like someone said in this thread already, the game is just timeless! Thx again to rockstar for release on the pc,hope the next ones too!
