willgtavcs
well Iphone 4's 32gb cost about $300 US and around 1000 here. the australian dollar is a few cents short of the american dollar so an iphone should cost under $350 here (cbf doing mathematics right now as you get the general idea). We all know this is due to the recession and whatnot, but i was wondering... If you import an Iphone 4 from america +shipping costs+ unlocking it, is it still cheaper? is it actually possible for it to work in aus and can you get it factory bought instead of locked to T mobile? Generally straight answers would be appreciated please although i am in favour of alternative suggestions, just not people commenting in depth on my mathematical laziness and grammar etc.
Wolf68k
First, the phone is locked to AT&T in the US, not T-mobile Second I think there is more to it than a simple unlock to get it to work in AU or any where else outside of the US. And it's because of that as to why it cost more in different parts of the world. Also the phone is $700 in the US without a mobile contract. So if say you got me to buy the phone for you and ship it to you, it's $700 (plus sales tax makes it ~$760) then I still have to ship it and no idea how much that is, then you still have to unlock it and then find a carrier that will support a US iPhone in AU. I would first suggest finding a carrier that will support the US iPhone 4 before you worry about getting the phone shipped from the other side of the world. Pico
Well put, Wolf. You can also quit being lame and desire a more capable phone, like an Android one I'm sure you've already got plenty in Australia.
