DODdeed
I read a little bit thru the joblistings of Rockstargames! I know it is all far stretched, but I wait for day to hear something new from GTA. We all know GTA is in development nothing knew! (I know there are a lot more things needed to build up a game) 1.Step: If you want to make a game you start with the story, the location, concept draws, Photos,.... 2.Step: build the world in 3D, motion capturing, audio and so on. 3.Step: Last thing would be testing and marketing. 4.Step: release My question is how long would it take from step 2 to step 4? I think the story for GTA V (GTA IV ....) and location is decided. Let´s say they all know how it should look (photos, drawings, location) and all (the story , conversations) is written down. I think that is the bigger part for a game. Now to the job listings: http://jobs.rockstargames.com/ I don´t know for how long this Job listings are on the site I just saw it today and read thru them. I am not going to list all of them I just want to name a few. Rockstar North for example is looking for: AI Programmer, Charakter animator, enviroment artist, physics programmer and so on. (11 total) If you read thru the Requirements they are looking for programmers with skills on PS3 and Xbox 360. "Develop, maintain and extend current AI systems on Xbox 360 and PS3." So it could not be Agent (only PS3) or Max Payne and never LA. Noire (release ca. 1Q). I don´t know what other games they have in their pocket. Enviroment Artist: "You will be designing, building and texturing the world, have the technical knowledge to achieve great looking results and the skill to get the most from next-gen consoles." Physics Progammer: "This is an exciting opportunity to develop cutting-edge physics and collision systems......he perfect blend of realism and fun in how games feel to play..." Rockstar New York city is looking for marketing, motion capture and online architect to name a few. Motion capture stands maybe for a new charakter or NPC´s. (8 total) The Rage Technology Group is also searching for a lot of people. For example Rage Animation -, Generalist-, graphics-, network- and physics programmer. (6 total) Rage Network Programmer: "Extend and maintain core and mid-level solutions for efficient networking of complex open-world game environments." So they are need someone for an open world game or does I mix smth up? Rage Physics Programmer: "Maintain and enhance the stability, quality, and variety of game physics elements such as ragdolls, vehicle dynamics, rope, fragments, etc." There are a lot more jobs listings but I can´t name all. Rockstar North, Rockstar NYC, Rage Technology Group and Rockstar Toronto have the most job listings. Somewhere on the site, couldn´t find it anymore, they were looking for people who can make cartoons for the ingame TV. They are also searching for people who can make stunning trailers. I know it´s all speculating and it maybe means nothing! Now the big question is if they stock up there team this should mean they are trying to finish a game! I don´t know what game/games it could be but some of this jobs are highly likeable for GTA! Would like to know how far they are with the game, but i think the forum members and analyst should be right with 2012! What do you think? Am I crazy? BTW Rockstar Toronto is looking for Game Testers that would be the only job i could apply! Testing GTA that would be a job!

mobe
"Develop, maintain and extend current AI systems on Xbox 360 and PS3." So it could not be Agent (only PS3) Its definitely an interesting clue that there will be another GTA this generation. Its still possible Agent will be ported to the 360 at some point and they're looking for people to work on a possible 360 version. We still know nothing about how far through development Agent is or what the time scale of its release is.
Niko_Vercetti7
aintain and enhance the stability, quality, and variety of game physics elements such as ragdolls, vehicle dynamics, rope, fragments, etc." Sounds a lot like GTA to me. Especially because they mention vehicle dynamics and ragdolls.
mobe
I don't think there's any doubt whatsoever that R*North are currently making another GTA. The question is just how far through production is it? And whether or not its being made for this generation of consoles or not.

maxopower
Its definitely an interesting clue that there will be another GTA this generation. Not necessarily, I remember seeing the original job postings for Agent, first found in 2003. And of course they were not looking for people with 360 and PS3 experience, since those people din't really exist at the time. @FiS!!HeR And the key word is "Pachter"... I don't see any reason that would have pushed him to make a big lie like this. Yes, I agree that most of his predictions always turn out to be wrong, but what he said is a sure word from Take Two not a personal prediction. First, I agree I think the next game will be present Gen. But I doubt that they would list personal with NextBoX and PS4 experience or other Next gen consoles. again ,because they don't exist. And Pachter..... I actually like him, watch his show every week.. But at this point the game had been in development for only a year, it's probably difficult for Rockstar to give an release date, and thereby also difficult to be sure about the release consoles. Looks like the regular console cycle is going to be a thing of the past. MS Says No New Xbox I think it will still be several years before we even see the current cons reach their potential. Although Sony might need to change their hardware up a bit to catch up to some of the Xbox features (mainly in game music playback and cross game voice), with the single core and 7 SPE's it just can't do it. DODdeed
I think it´s probably coming on Xbox 360 and PS3. Because: The companys (microsoft,Sony) saying that they don´t have any need for a new console also move and kinect is indicating for a longer console life span. The next 2-3 years we won´t hear anything from a new console! (1 year before rumors, then 1 year marketing and 1 year for a release for an AAA game like GTA, because enough consoles on the market) Rockstar has the engine ready and all the other stuff also the post above (patcher an analyst with insight view in to game companies even if he is with prediction not really accurate [new GTA release 2010]) said it that it is since one year in development. The post was on 15 th July, let´s say it is just an vague description, the game is approximately 2 (+/-) years in development. GTA IV was in development since November 2004 and was released in april 2008. So it took approximately 3 1/2 years to build up GTA IV. First trailer was in march 2007. So a GTA IV announcement is behind time! Take Two the also want´s to see profit! Next big thing is LA. Noire (release Q1-Q2 2011) than maybe Max Payne (we saw some pictures and maybe also release in mid/late 2011) and the next game is the big surprise. Maybe it is Agent, GTA or another IP. mobe
I don't believe a word Michael Pachter ever says. He's renound for spouting his mouth about any subject in gaming if it thinks it'll get him attention. He's certainly been known for passing opinion off as fact on many occasions. Knowing the level of secrecy all of R* works under I find it highly unlikely he'd be told anything by anyone connected to the company. Was Agent first started by R* San Diego before getting canned? That's news to me. I heard in the grapevine that R*North were in two minds whether to develop a zombie game or Agent and obviously went with the latter. I also know that R*North farmed out environment design work on Agent to third party design studios more used to working on movies. Presumably to hurry the game along. Like I've said before North is a comparatively small studio, they presumably need all the extra help they can get. mobe
Looks like the regular console cycle is going to be a thing of the past. MS Says No New Xbox MS would say that though wouldn't they? They know fine well they'd be mad to talk about next gen hardware when Kinect has only just been released and seems to be doing pretty well. They don't want peoples attention taken off it. I do however think MS will milk the 360 longer than Sony will with the PS3. There's obviously a lot of potential still for both systems but by the sounds of things Sony are keen to ramp things up towards the next gen. There doesn't seem to be much leaking out from MS about the 360's successor where as there is various bits of credible rumour about Sony developing the PS4.
