Gundog
Um, so I broke my wrist 2 years ago, and I removed the plaster 2 weeks early. It healed improperly, and kept hurting. Yesterday, I twisted my arm in such a way, that I felt such awful pain... I couldn't describe it. For 2 years, I've dealt with the feeling of tightness, and my wrist kept tiring real fast. Now pain. Can this sort of injury be fixed? The original damage wasn't major, but merely a crack, but I feel like my wrist is f*cked for these 2 years. I know, I should see a doctor, and get x-rays, which I intend to, eventually. They'll probably break my wrist anew to make it heal this time. I'm just asking is it worth getting my wrist deliberately broken, and can these sorts of injuries usually be fixed, because I really think this will f*ck my life up. I can't turn the steering wheel properly, nor can I pluck on the guitar, nothing. You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself. Runey
I honestly don't know but if they do have to "re-break" it to heal properly, I think that'd be the best solution long term. Basically you just have to suck it up for a while, but it's better than being in constant pain for the rest of your life isn't it?
Ottae
Maybe you should have kept it on for the last 2 weeks so it healed properly? Now though, your best option is to get off your arse and see a doctor.
Gundog
Thanks guise! I'm just worried they don't open my hand up and put screws and sh*t, since nearly every time I roll my wrist, I can hear it crack inside. I'll get X-rayed tomorrow, if it's minor sh*t, I'll let it slide until I fix my grades, and if it's bad, I'll get it fixed momentarily. Phatgordo13
I tell you what, my buddy broke both wrists falling off the roof (HILARIOUS story) but that was 4 years ago. He's fully healed but he is often in pain, especially in temperature changing seasons. Its quite difficult to remain as athletic as he once was, and will probably will be like that the rest of his life. Id get it looked at, but....bones aren't meant to be broken. Obviously. Finn 7 five 11
They'll probably break my wrist anew to make it heal this time. I'm just asking is it worth getting my wrist deliberately broken, and can these sorts of injuries usually be fixed, because I really think this will f*ck my life up A few things i would like to point out/ask. You broke your wrist and you have stiffness and pain in the joint, where did you break it? and was it bent where you broke it or was it just cracked?(but not visibly broken) Did you break your wrist right next to the joint or further up your arm? Because if your broke it on the joint or very near (a few millimetres away) that sort of pain can be normal, and you will probably get arthritis. Another question, is your wrist visibly deformed? You say you took your cast off two weeks early, which is a mistake, but it is unlikely that was the reason your arm didn't heal properly (unless it was a full break) sometimes bones just don't heal straight, sometimes it's because the cast wasn't quite right, you were rough with your cast, or the bone just didn't heal straight for some reason. I broke my wrist once(4 years ago), it was my radius but i broke it a few centimeters away from the actual joint, it didn't heal straight (it was snapped in half) and i got it re-broken, and it still a bit crooked, but it works fine, and since it is further up it is not a problem to my joint. ( i broke mine on the radius at the bottom of the diagram) Another thing you should have done was gotten it re-broken as soon as you realized it was problematic (when was that?), because now the bone will have fully healed and have calcified over, so it is probably thicker than it was originally. You see i got mine rebroken right after i got it out of the cast, and even that was difficult even though the bone was still weak (they didn't need to cut my arm open) , so if you get it rebroken you will most likely need to have your arm cut open and the bone sawed in half. If you answer my questions i might be able to help you a little bit more.
Rebel
Having never broken a bone in my life I can't really help you. However, your doing yourself no favor by ''waiting it out'' as you say. If anything is wrong with it you should get it looked at instead of just dealing with the pain when you say its actually stopping you from leading a normal life (like the driving) As for them re breaking it so it will heal over right, don't know if they will do that or not depends on the situation with your wrist. But if they need to put in some kind of metal in there so you can stop having pain when you use it then well, as much as you might not want it it might be for the best. Like you said, the best thing you can actually do right now is just get it looked at.
