f*ck me, it must have literally shat snow from the sky last night because I woke up to find another 5 inches of snow covering my garden. Still, no school now, apparently. Have fun anyone from Surrey (in the UK)!

Spent the last hour and half clearing the drive so we can get the cars on and off with ease, mines safe in the garage, but I can't get my parents car on the sodding drive, got the smallest of slopes and the flaming car won't go up it!

I never thought it would be possible for Sheffield to get any sh*tter. I should be amazed that this fine crap producing city actually found a way to make life even more miserable . I live about 10 - 15 mins outside the "city centre" and you would think we lived in the middle of nowhere, not seen so much as a shake of salt or a plough at all in the past couple of days. Anyway if any one is interested here are a few snaps I took from my phone :-

It's now knee deep outside my house and nobody is using the roads so walking in the snow is unavoidable.

 

Still get to piss about in the snow though. I've seen people snowboarding and skiing on a local hill. I also got buried by soem friends in the snow.

I gave a ride up a hill to a guy on skis in the snow in my S4 when we had it bad- must have been Feb/March 08? Popped the boot open and got him to hold onto the inside lip all the way to the top. AWD + lots of torque + snow chains = dangerously fast in the snow.

 

He beat me down the hill on the other side though

Same here, just got home and cleared the drive. It's on a slight incline which you go up to get out. It gives my mam some trouble 'cos you go up to get out, then down again from the path to the road, and she always thinks she'll skid when going back down. What makes this worth posting though, is the fact that I've literally just sat down after finishing and seen the heavy snow start again. Typical.

E: Just remembered, I saw a guy with some cross country skis on just outside campus the other day. He looked dead smug. Shame all the paths on campus (where he was headed) had all been gritted.

Snow arrived the other day. Didn't seem to get too heavy today, so hopefully it'll bugger off now. Though after a heavy snowfall, once it stops all the snow starts turning to ice. I'd kill for a day of 25 Celcius so it can all melt away!

I think when you reach a point where you're more worried about traffic disruptions and dont immediately think "OMG ITS SNOWING!", then you've become an old fart/grown up, something I am proud to say I have not done yet.

 

It was not much fun trying to walk around with the shoes I have, very little grip. Give me a foot-deep blanket of snow in the morning every now and then and I'd be happy. Wouldnt a white christmas be nice?

Most of the snow in my area is melting away now, most of what's left is just the slushy brown stuff that nobody likes.

 

I hope we get some more heavy snow. I'd love a few more days off college, even when I took a whole week off this week.

Yeah, you try driving a thirty year old front wheel drive Mazda with bald tires on wheels only marginally bigger than the average spare tire in the snow while late to an important class during rush hour, then get back to me.

 

That said, I'm dying for it to snow. My f*cky logic has decided that if it's going to be ball-shrinkingly cold it might as well be pretty and atmospheric as well.
