ntx710i
Hi, I have since upgraded my rig to a newer one. So here's the specs: Intel i5-650 @3.20ghz( no overclocking) 4gb DDR3 RAM Gtx 260 xxx edition( with 896mb DDR3) Windows Vista SP2 32bit My problem is that there are often textures that pop in a few seconds after, and this makes it really annoying to play. It displays a low detailed area, then slowly works its way up to being high detailed. Any solutions on this one? Another problem is that there is always a grey texture every now and then blanketing the road and after 1 or 2 secs it become high detailed again. I tried to lower the resolution/ texture settings/ texture filter but to no avail. Both problems keep returning. I did not use any command lines and is using the latest patch 7. 1.0.0.7. Also using the retail edition. Benchmark details are as below: Statistics Average FPS: 56.22 Duration: 37.17 sec CPU Usage: 80% System memory usage: 61% Video memory usage: 68% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1280 x 1024 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: High Water Quality: High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x4 Night Shadows: Medium View Distance: 25 Detail Distance: 31 Hardware Microsoft® Windows Vista" Home Premium Service Pack 2 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Video Driver version: 260.99 Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli Any help? Thanks in advance!
mkey82
This second issue is a known problem without any practical solutions. What in my case was apparent is that GTAIV really minds when you often change your GPU drivers, so in my case, on a fresh OS install I wouldn't get these problems at all. Then when I change the GPU drivers a few times to test if any miraculously worked better, the distant peds would start turning gray and that ugly blanket as you call it would pop up all over the place. For the popup issue, you can check out memrestrict, it's know to help with such stuff.
ntx710i
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have tried the memrestrict and it is working well. However, I am thinking of getting another gtx 260 to sli and to improve performance. I have searched the forums but there seems to be no definite reply to whether Gta 4 supports sli. Can anyone confirm that with me before I go ahead and buy another gtx260?
mkey82
GTAIV supports SLI (formally), but you will not see any performance gains, getting issues are more likely.
