Erem
When change the properties, it seems fine but when I click "OK", it just changes back to Read Only :L (Running Windows 7) When I change it to non read-only and click Apply but not OK, i tried saving the file again but it still wont let me I had this same problem when I first tried to mod the game (but on Vista). Notepad would refuse to overwrite any of the files and tried instead to save a new one. Like you, I turned off the Read Only attribute only to find it had been turned on again. I think I had to change my DEP (Data Execution Prevention) settings, if I recall correctly, but I solved the problem more by luck than judgement and don't really know what it was I did that got it to work. Sorry I can't be more help. Until someone has a better solution, you could try this workaround: Open the file you want to edit in Notepad; Make your changes; Choose File/Save or File/Save As... to save the file; Select All files (*.*) from the Save as type drop-down list; Make sure your filename includes the correct file extension (e.g. PolicePursuit.ini, handling.dat); Save the file to your Desktop; Close Notepad; Open up the GTA folder that contains the file you're trying to modify; Drag the file you just saved from the Desktop into the folder; When Windows asks if you want to overwrite the Read Only file, say that you do.* *You should, of course, back up the original file before overwriting it. TheTomster
You have to go into security, and click EDIT. Then you go down to "user control" or whatever, and you tick "full control".
