Moonshield
So, I'd just seen a trailer for this movie. Directed by Jon Favreau, starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wild. And with guys like Sam Rockwell, Keith Carradine, and Clancy Brown?! Cowboys? Aliens? It looks over the top and awesome. The synopsis from IMDB: The Old West.. where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been... So uh, discuss? btw, tbh, it's missing some Sam Elliot. [SM]CJZera
Saw it a couple of days ago on a webcomic's blog It doesn't look half bad if we take into account how shallow the title makes it look... Also I'm going to say it, that guy is The Courier, he has a Pip-Boy
uNi
For a second there I was really hoping it would be Ripley ancestor fighting Aliens.
meta187
I also half wondered if it was going to be the Giger Aliens and yea the name is the only thing making it look a bit silly but Samuel L insisted on the title, "Snakes on a Plane" and it ended up being a hit so there ya go. Cool wrist weapon thingy. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~

meta187
Actually snakes on a plane flopped and so will this unfortunately. Due to the Internet hype surrounding the film, industry analysts estimated the film's opening box office to be between US$20-30 million. While Snakes on a Plane did narrowly beat Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby for the number one position during its opening weekend, it did not meet these estimates and grossed only $15.25 million in its opening days, a disappointment for New Line Cinema. In its second weekend, the film fell to sixth place with $6.4 million, a more than fifty percent drop from its opening weekend revenue. However, by the end of its theatrical run, the film generated the equivalent of $62,022,014 worldwide, nearly double the budget. Robert K. Shaye, the founder of New Line, stated that he was "disappointed" that Snakes on a Plane was a "dud" despite "higher expectations". The press declared that Snakes on a Plane was a "box office disappointment", with The New York Times reporting that after all the "hype Online, Snakes on a Plane is letdown at box office" and Entertainment Weekly reporting that the film was an "internet-only phenomenon." They made enough money back to call it a "profit" at the worldwide box office and even more with the DVD sales but you are correct a "hit" it was not despite the fan hype. Though this looks better to me than that TBH. It might be nice to see an "obvious movie title is obvious" break the mold for the first time in a while. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~
Mike Tequeli
The problem is that Snakes on a Plane had this massive volume of hype and everything before it was released. The novelty of the simple title and concept had the Internet endlessly talking about it, but the results were mediocre at best. This won't have the same hype and thus might make even less money. I was at a movie a few weeks ago and the response to the trailer was pretty poor among the audience.
Don Garcia
I was genuinely surprised by the trailer. I was of the mind that this was going to be a stupid film and a step backward for Favreau, but the trailer made it seem like some solid entertainment. Could be trailer editing, but the films looks a lot more intense and scary than I expected. I use scary lightly. To be honest though, the first 38 seconds of the trailer made me wish this was just a western. Screw the metal doohickey on his arm and the aliens, and serve me up a good western with Mr. Craig. And I too thought, "That's a Pip-Boy."
Pico
I fail to see any connection between Snakes on a Plane and this movie, aside from an odd title. As for the movie, looks damn interesting. I saw the trailer for it like a week or two ago at the theater and it looks promising. The title is pretty lame, but the trailer was pretty bad ass. If you haven't see it yet, I'd suggest you do. I'm going to have to see more of it before I can get a sense for the quality of the movie though. Skyline's initial trailers made it look eerie, but I heard it turned out to be a poorly acted, scripted action film. Pretty sure Cowboys and Aliens will be primarily action but from what I saw in the trailer it seems promising.
Omnia sunt Communia
It's called Cowboys & Aliens for a reason: I've not read the comic yet, might pick it up before the movie comes out. Not really that fussed either way though. The trailer didn't really grip me that much.
