JoshGTAfreak
I've decided to make a topic for Metalcore, because I couldn't decide where to post about Metalcore bands, seeing as they're neither Punk, nor Metal. But anyway, does anyone like any Metalcore? I like Asking Alexandria and Parkway Drive. Both have a certain epicness to them.
ISd3d
I used to like some of that stuff. Hatebreed, E Town Concrete, Poison The Well.
Finn 7 five 11
Bullet for my valentine is my favorite metal core band, but their new album is pretty hopeless, but i think they have the best voice IMO. Sonic syndicate is probably my next favorite metal core band, and all of their music is pretty good, the have good vocals, and good screamo, some bands have either or. Recently i have been listening to heavier and heavier stuff, thats the way it usually goes, but i am not one of those HAAARDCOORE guys, i like many other genres as well. ANyone else here think that the Bring me the horizons lead singer olli sykes, makes it sound like he is going to cry when he screams? i find it really annoying. Trivium have the best screamers i think.
Theodoro
ATR is decent metalcore, although their latest stuff is pretty bad. Fall of Ideals is my fave album. Kalmah and CoB are melodeath, which are pretty cool genres if you like fast soloing and all.
Aussiebushmatt
I do love me some Killswitch Engage or Parkway Drive from time to time. I guess old Avenged Sevenfold could be considered metalcore, and I love all of that.

Kalmah and CoB are melodeath, which are pretty cool genres if you like fast soloing and all. CoB aren't melodeath. They've got influence from it but they're closer to power metal than they are melodeath. Also, most melodeath is quite light on solos compared to most of the more progressive end of the death metal genre. Listen to At The Gates, as a perfect example, who are the seminal melodeath band- throughout the entirity of "Slaughter of the Soul" there are what, about 3 solos? Whereas something like Control Denied has 3 per song. IMO, metalcore is a stupid genre that makes no sense. A cross between metal and hardcore punk already exists. It's called crossover thrash. Or speedcore, or D-Beat, depending on what kind of metal you're mixing with your punk. Most "metalcore" bands are just alternative metal with punk influences, which can be said about a lot of metal bands. It's not freaking metalcore. That's not a genre. It's something influenced by something else.
Starion
Slaughter of the Soul Haven't listened At the Gates in a while, thanks for reminding me. mod it with Nitrous Oxide and chassis dyno.
Digital Murders
The only metalcore band I still listen to this day and am a fan of is 36 Crazyfists. Every release seems pretty consitent, and they're lyrics and music actually mean something to them. Unlike a lot of bands in the sub-genre that make themselves a gimmick. And their live shows are unbelievable as well.
Aussiebushmatt
These two songs, both off of Horizons by Parkway Drive are pretty sweet. Here's Carrion: And an awesome live video of Feed Them To The Pigs:
JoshGTAfreak
I really like this band. They're quite under-rated. Their latest album has a lot more melody than there previous albums, but their singer is great IMO anyone else like them? BTW, how do you imbed videos? Slamman
Bullet for my valentine is my favorite metal core band, ...... Trivium have the best screamers i think. Hope Finn makes it out of his medical emergency OK. On Topic, I think all the Metal sub-genres get directed back to the metal topic here, this is true of making too many specific topics. I don't like segregating music other then to describe how things sound, that's less a rip on a band, as to compare them in wording, the best examples are still relating to similar sounding bands of course, but it's just hard to do no matter what. I've read years of rock magazines and I never know how a band truly sounds from an article about them, it's good to know from sampling things like either radio, friend's collections or in this day and age... Slamman
You're lucky, there's not much action in the music section. Maybe when the GTA guys start telling us the stations and their select rosters, things REALLY heat up, I think it did with the onset of GTA4 news! There was much debate about expanding the same genres or changing them in the GTA landscape (radio stations like VRock and Emotion as examples)

YouTube But you can imagine that if any of this music was posted in the metal topic, it would instantly get ripped on. Isn't that topic mostly dedicated to pure death metal now? To be honest, I was never into the pure death metal, but I do somewhat like melodic death metal. I really prefer melodic metal, but it seems the official metal topic probably doesn't seem to favor that stuff too much. It's kind of sad since metalheads are supposed to be "united" (like they always say). One reason I see some subgenres like metalcore being hated upon is since it's more "mainstream" than most other subgenres. Personally, I like anything that sounds good to me, and it doesn't matter if it's mainstream or underground (if that's the right term).
Slamman
There's always some bias based on the most active members, It's hard to pretend there's enough open minds when it comes to music, here or anywhere, really I agree that musically it has to grab a hold of me, and musically means some manner of good melody, it's the skeleton you build upon
bread
AA is alright. Not a big fan of the whole genre, though.
Slamman
I think it fitting to list the bands you think fall under a catagory. I personally DO know musicians and if you ask them what they think of genres, you'll get a different answer EACH time. If you were to ask them how they define their own band, Most I know wouldn't look at it other then a way for Record companies to harness a label on a band, but typically, there's a generally classification that all bands would fall under, it's the sub-genres that get called into question, I think dependent in no small part, by what part of the World you reside in! haha
