Sad times. I had no idea he was battling drugs. I never listened to him on Marc Maron's podcast, which I will now. 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿
Mexicola9302
I just read that he died in some newsportal while enjoying my morning coffee and was totally shocked, god damn this is sad, he was a real good actor. He was brilliant in The Wire and The Night Of. I will miss seeing him on the screen. RIP Mister Pink

Mexicola9302
I watched The Wire multiple times already, only the first time in 4:3, it's a huge difference watching it in 16:9 and HD, after i saw it in HD i started recommending the series to friends and family, but i think they all find it too slow paced and just stopped watching it or never even started watching it. Too bad for them missing out on this. Also some ppl it seems, still haven't figured out how most of the HBO series work, they are all slow paced and character focused, the story always takes long to progress. I mean after the first episode you think to yourself, wtf is this, i felt the same way, but then it slowly progresses to that great series. Oh yeah "The Brother" was a cool character, totally creepy. Yeah, the HBO format of character-driven narrative is hard to break into if you aren't used to it. Most people will drop off after the first few episodes. That's why when I recommended it, I try my best to educate those I think haven't watched that big HBO show before like The Sopranos or Boardwalk Empire. For me these shows have a greater payoff and more easily accessible shows. I love the long-form storytelling, multiple plotlines that support the main story, plotlines that weave across seasons or only conclude after a whole season. My friend asked me why I don't like superhero films. I said, it's kind of difficult to enjoy them when you are spoiled with rich character driven shows from HBO. Going from one to the other is like the musical equivalent to enjoying long-form concept-rich Pink Floyd songs about time and finiteness of human life to nursery rhyme songs about tying your shoe. Mexicola9302
I mean it was the same with Game of Thrones, but that for some reason more ppl watched. My sister and her husband are/were huge fans of GoT, but i can't make them watch The Wire for some reason, no they don't bite. Naughtius Maximus
One of those moments which prove Season 2 was underappreciated. Probably better than all the way "do-gooder police" bullsh*t they sell out on us with a lot of various TV cop dramas. A room full of guys, all trying to dump fourteen "almost-impossible-to-solve" murders on each other and none of them even bothered to solve the case. I can image sh*t like this happen in many police departments no matter where you live. And John Doman's acting as Rawls is absolutely fascinating here: An eagle-eyed pragmatist who knows and plays the game well in order to save his own skin (even though he doesn't mind climbing the ladder from time to time). AkshayKumar
Just finished season 1. Was a fun ride! I started off not liking the detectives/police force and rooting for Avon, and Avon remains one of my favorite characters. I don't know how it happened but by the end I got really attached to the cops, it's a damn shame it looks like they were broken up in the end. I'm sure they all will be featured in the coming seasons but probably not as a group together, I got attached to them all from McNulty to Prez. I hope it's not the last we see of Avon, him and Stringer got a real presence that made me want to see more of them but Spoiler I think Avon got jailed for seven years? Atleast it seems Stringer is going to be in charge but hope Avon is back we saw too little of him for my liking And how can I not mention the Pit crew? A similar thing with the police here as well, I started of thinking these kids were a bunch of punks but I got attached to the group as the season went on. Very heart wrenching how they ended up, won't feel the same to watch Bodie and Poot after all that, though I like how they became leaders in their own right at the end of the season will be interesting to follow. I didn't like D'Angelo much, he's a good lad in the wrong circumstances but I get real punk vibes from the guy, idk how to say exactly. I found the whole internal conflict that went on with his character all sesson tiring tbh. Kind of like Christopher in the Sopranos, I find both of them punks who I didn't like much Will start season 2 tomorrow, I ended up spoiling myself about the Sopranos while I was in season 2 and stopped watching won't do the same here. I read that every season in the Wire focuses on a different theme, season 1 was drug dealing in the streets and I think season 2 is the docks. I'm guessing we will see McNulty atleast given what happened to him in the season finale. Think we'll see new villains top, wonder how they'll compare with the Barksdale organization Edit: and maybe an unpopular opinion but I found Omar rather forgettable though it's been just one season. Not that his character was bad but I almost forgot he existed in the last few episodes until the admittedly cool reveal in the end. What was the point of Bubbles? To show another aspect of Baltimore drug trade from the junkies pov? Edited January 17 by Wayne Kerr Mister Pink and Zello 1

Don't stop with The Sopranos. The is more gold there. Not sure what you spoiled.. the ending? The ending is quite genius. Also, great review of Season 1. Takes me back to my first time watching it. Yep, the the show needs some junkies and it gives them a voice and humanizes them too. Everyone is human in the show. Nobody is really vilified blanketly. There is some redemption in all people from all walks of life in the show; bad cops, killers, drug dealers etc IMO. Season 2 is great. I does focus on the docks and new people and many people didn't like the change. But it's another part of the city and you'll see all the other same characters. The drug trade is there, just not so much. Also, Season 2 reminds me a lot like GTA in a way. Just the type of crime and types of criminals going on is very GTA-esque. Enjoy! Wayne Kerr
Spoilers upto s2e7 Spoiler D'Angelos fate took me completely by surprise. If there was one character i thought would make it to the end of season 5 it was D'Angelo. He didnt even have any redemption arc like i expected, just gave in to pressure and went to jail and got offed. Probably a case of the show subverting edxpectations but damn, thats cold. I thought they would pull a Greggs and would turn out that D'Angelo would still be alive but seems no, they had a funeral and all. Calling it now Stringer doing this behind Avons back is gonna cause major problems between them later I see the hype over Omar now he killed that courtroom scene Niko and Ziggy feel like tragedies waiting to happen I dont think they get out of their association with the Greek unharmed. I like the two, it seems Niko has more to lose so probably he's gonna get turned on when he or Sobotka decide they dont want to do this anymore when the heat on them increases. I dont know if it will go like that but very interested to see how this dock storyline goes theres something really meancing about Proposition Joe lol. AkshayKumar
Finished season 2. S2e11 was the best episode of the show for me so far Powerful ending to the season, looking forward to season 3 I think the theme for this is the government/politicians? Should be fun Some spoilerish thoughts about season 2 Spoiler I thought nothing would top D'Angelos death as the heaviest moment but Sobotkas murder hit harder to me, everything started going downhill for him as the season went on and i thought he'd have his come back moment so to speak but there was no silver lining he just got brutally killed. Didn't think I'd feel this bad. Season 2 ended on the opposite note of 1, 1 ended with the arrest of Avon and a successful case and a happy note but 2 ended on a bleak one and the Greek escaping. I wouldn't be surprised if the Greek and Spiros have gone away for good but I kinda doubt it I think we'll see them again. I think we'll see more of the famous Clay Davis guy in season 3. Stringer seems to be making too many enemies lol. Omar, Mouzone and possibly Avon too? Lol interesting to see how it goes

AkshayKumar
Am midway through season 3. Spoiler I find myself cheering for Avon and Stringer despite knowing that they are the bad guys. I get the feeling it isnt going to end well for them and there's a sort of tragedy to them trying to act like they are on top of the world and own the streets when their 'empire' looks on shaky ground with the cops closing in and rival drug dealers growing in stature. There's something about Stringer trying to be this businessman like overlord that makes me interested in his character but he's made too many enemies (Mouzone, Omar, the cops) and possibly Avon too if he finds out about D'Angelo, that despite him nearly becoming legit i feel he is going to go down, fascinating to follow. I liked Avon from the start, must be his charisma Marlo is a punk ass kid though i dont like him I kinda hope McNulty gets capped,I think it's part of his character to be insufferable but damn he is insufferable. Its interesting to see how consumed people like him, Kima and Daniels are about their job to the point they cant lead normal lives with their family On 4/16/2022 at 2:42 PM, Candy_Licker said: My highlight about this season are the Comstat meetings with Rawls und Burrell lmao, Rawls is such an asshole.I guess that is part of the job but still I dont know what to think of that Tommy Carcetti guy, well intentioned or out for himself?
