kingfofo666
Hello, I have a problem with a glass material created in gmax. I have of course imported a standard .dff to see how the glass is made there and i did the exact same thing, i added a texture, a 32x32 bmp square in baby-blue, added reflection and used the same settings as the standard glass. But in the game i have 2 problems: The glass material on a parked car, its just white, no sign of the baby-blue texture. Second and most importand problem, on cars that are driving in traffic, there is no glass at all! Please help, Kingfofo

Mark01
Use GTA Material and adjust opacity instead.. I'm not sure if it's gonna work give it a try
kingfofo666
I use GTA Material of course! With default reflection, color blue and opacity of 180, the problem is not the glass material, its the fact that it only appears on parked cars, cars in traffic have no glass at all! RanxeroX
I'm not sure if it will work, depending on what you've already done, but you could try detaching the glass surfaces from the vehicle then re-attaching them. Another thing to try would be to create a texture with an alpha channel. Set the transparency to the desired level in the gfx program. Then create a mask and save it to the alpha channel. Save the texture as either a .tga or .png file. Back in Gmax, turn the opacity back up to 255 on the material. Assign the texture to both the Color and Alpha slots. This way, transparency is derived from the texture and not material setting. I seem to recall having to do something like this on a vehicle once to get rid of a visual problem. Oh yeah, don't forget to update your .txd file so it has the alpha channel set up in there too.
kingfofo666
Unfortunately none of that helped me :S I detached and re-attached the glass, i used the .tga with alpha channel and the only thing i could establish is that as long as the opacity is 255 (wich makes the glass solid wich is pointless) the "glass" is visible on all vehicles, but even with 254 the cars in traffic have no windows <.< has anyone encountered such a problem yet? kingfofo666
I´ve solved it. It was actually not a problem of the material. The car i replaced, the zr350 appears to hide the side windows except for when it rains. Sorry for my stupidity and thanks for the help, Kingfofo
