Vorobev
Long story short, earlier this week i kept getting the "WS10" error when launching GTA IV. I looked around these forums and found out that the error was caused by a corrupt file in Windows Live, and that to fix it i need to re-install Live. After removing everything with "Windows" in its name from my computer, i go to the Microsoft site and start downloading the Essentials 2011 pack (Live, Movie Maker, etc.) however, halfway through the installation stupid ass Microsoft tells me that Live will not be installed unless i download updates for my computer through the Windows Updater. Now from previous experience i came to realise that these "updates" from Windows do nothing but slow down and eventually wreck the computer, so i've had all of Windows Updates set on "off" since i bought this PC in 2008, and so far its still working like new. However, Live refuses to install without them and therefore i cannot play GTA IV. My question is: is there a way to get around this? For example, a site that could let me install a previous version of Live that does not require me to get these updates on my computer? Thanks. Girish
You can use Xliveless and get rid of the need for GFWL.
mkey82
Some old GFWL version wouldn't do you any good. I suggest you try installing this one GFWL update, I don't know about that "essentials" pack and what does it demand.
