Double XP sessions...

I was on a different R* game site and they're are offering another 2x XP weekend for 4 days. Has R* ever done this with GTAIV?

I'd much rather terrorize Liberty City than New Austin for double XP.

The concept itself could work though, but as for now there has been no special weekends for the game

They need to come up with new ways to draw players back to GTA multiplayer

No because you dont get xp in gta.

OK then, double cash grab weekends biggrin.gif

I see just as many people in GTAIV compared to another certain popular R*multiplayer game, sometimes more. Although the AA disallow modes seem to be empty most of the time. Have people really gotten that lazy to where they let the game aim for them? Anyways, that's a whole 'nother topic that's been worn out.

I could easily milk the double XP gimmick for RDR, but i'd rather play GTAIV

Sorry for being blunt in my last post.Your dead right though GTA is the flagship game for rockstar yet RDR has recieved far more attention in terms of online mode and DLC ect ect. Ive made up a few post to try and get some people to play TMW.Ive had a few responces but everyone is online at different times ect.I think only news of the next GTA will bring guys back to sharpen up and get into the swing of things again. However since LA Noire is the next project and Agent is still to be made aswell....I dont think we will be seeing a new GTA anytime soon. The thing is there is no benefit of a GTA double xp day as there nothing to be unlocked as you rank up.If you fancy a new hat for you avatar then knock yourself out.If it brings people back to play GTA again then I suppose its worthwhile. Rockstar wont do it though.Besides all this we are competeing against the annual recyled sh*t that comes out from COD every year that so many cream in thier pants about. I just want the next gta to come out at put COD right in its place. Hopefully rockstar dont follow cod and stick an extra £10 on the game price just because its COD and everyone "has" to have it.Utter bullsh*t if ask me.... they are just cheating their fans.I dont like playing soldier anyway.I like being the bad guys LOL.

I see what you mean about there not being a use for double XP other than adding new clothes to the wardrobe. Not really the reason i like playing GTAIV after all.

Hopefully they'll take the leveling and weapon system from RDR and beef it up for the next GTA game.

I fully expect the next GTA be lot more detailed than GTA 4.RDR online setup is more in line with most online games now. With rewards for ranking up ect. I imagine R* will go down this road with the next installment smile.gif

Sounds like a good idea to me. I've been on Vanilla - Races every night for a week or more because I'm trying to get to rank 5 before I put it away for a bit. THere actually seem to be more people racing lately -- maybe getting back in practice for gran tourismo 5.

yeah well, even if there were...let me tell you, having reached rank 10 doesn't improve the fun.

no, despite trophies, there isn't anything to gain anymore...and lower levels tend to kick you.

and clothes...well, in TLAD maybe. but the clothes in vanilla or tbogt don't get too superior to the ones you already have with a lower level.

Imho it shouldn't be 10 levels and sh*tload of cash required to level up, it should be like 50 levels and little cash required to level up.

That and more rewards, and it is way better fun then.

No more "i need to grind Hangman's Noose 50000 times to level up and get some clothes"....i mean really who the hell thought up the amounts needed to level up?

R* seems to have learned from RDR's multiplayer, while I'm not saying it's better than GTA IV's multiplayer, it does however have a better structure to it.

Levels/Ranks were handled much better since you don't have to go through multiple lobbies to earn XP/Cash. The unlock system was also much better as I prefer obtaining firearms over leveling up instead of having to collect them every time I spawn. The only two things really lacking in RDR's multiplayer is the lack of character customization and the character handling itself (Which can be tied back to the core gameplay so I'll this one out).

very true Canadian,

I'm sure the next GTA might follow on from RDR's MP structure, hell i even expect they will do the same posse stuff but this time with gangs online...just hope R* don't decide on making it too much like Call of Duty in terms of online MP structure.

Yeah RDR multiplayer was good, although i would of preferred to have customization system like in IV (choosing hair and clothes)

Also i don't really want the rank up to get better firearms in multiplayer, something else, like having a car you can customize and you unlock a new car every time you level up and get more customization options and you can use your phone to order it to be driven to you by an NPC, like in BOGT when you could order cars on the phone.

sounds like a good idea GTAspotter - take the idea of a horse you can whistle in RDR and somehow make it so you have a unique car that spawns for you depending on your rank and level.

  • 2 weeks later...

Maybe as you rank up you could unlock a watch that can be used to call you car......KITT KITT I need you buddy tounge.gif.

Seriously though perhaps for team based games like death match, mafiya work ect you could spawn in your car at the start of the game. After its destroyed you would have to find another one the old fasioned way. Or call up a guy who brings a new one like in BOGT.The more you rank up the better the car you get to start with for example you would start with a rusty car at level 0 then as you progress the better cars become avilable to customise.Paint job, Body parts and tinted windows, ect ect.Obviously yuo would have your pick of cars out in the street anyway but I think having something to rank up for would give the game more atraction. However there is a downside to that.I find that the people who still play GTA do so because of love of the game and not for online rewards. Its the game itself that keep you coming back not the perks if you will. I suppose the same could be said for weapons but I think that gives too much advantage over new players. Looking back GTA 4 looks like a bare bones setup to which can only be added too.All the game types require some tweaks im sure all will agree.
