pyramid head
I was watching the Stargate Universe episode malice a while ago which to not spoil is a revenge episode if you want to know more read below just beware of spoilers http://www.gateworld.net/universe/s2/208.shtml My question is, If someone you cared about was hurt or killed would you take revenge? I would consequences be damned they say revenge is a dish best served cold, in my case i would serve it piping hot when i get p****d i get p****d and i don't let anything get in my way. Like the main character Dr Rush i would do the same in rush's place i care a lot about someone i know the same way rush cared about Amanda Perry and if something happened to her i would do what rush did consequences be damned. SWEETSAPRIK
Meh, I thought his actions were stupid and selfish. Taking revenge the way he did he put millions of people at risk. Also the guy didn't pay much at all, he just died. I would have brought the guy back, and gotten any information out of him that I could, using any means at my disposal. This could possibly have resulted in obtaining the intelligence needed to stop an attack, saving like the whole freaking planet. It's also very unlikely that the guy would have just answered the questions, which would have made it "necessary" to ask the questions in a forceful manner, I.E. causing him unbearable pain until he gave up the info or died. Win win. Not to mention the fact that once the guy was back on the ship (whether he gave up the info or not) it's not like he could have escaped. So then he could kill the prick whenever he wanted to, as slowly as he wanted to. Complete douchebag move. Kill him, putting the whole planet at risk, and don't even bother to make him really suffer. What a pussy. PяopagaиdaIиc.

What a pussy. Human beings are capable of extreme levels of violence, people will do anything when you take into account the old saying guilt can be a powerful motivator but it can also be a great destroyer, the guilt a person would feel over not having been able to do anything to save the person they loved or a close friend can make them capable of anything. freak2121
Sure, but taking revenge on someone gives another person a reason to take revenge on you(Unless that person has no loved ones/friends).
iulian28ti
I believe that the only worthy revenge is total revenge. Simple "push-backs" are just feeding the fire of the aggressor. Doing that hurts YOU. If you want to end a fight you either offer peace, or you totally obliterate your opponent if he refuses.
TommyMufc-Champs
I would definitely take revenge If anyone messed with my family.

K^2
Yeah, I'm not sufficiently malevolent to go for revenge served cold. Besides, my greater motivation is to warn the others not to mess with me. So yeah, I'd retaliate instantly and with all available force. If you want to end a fight you either offer peace, or you totally obliterate your opponent if he refuses. Exactly. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
Tchuck
I'd seek revenge. Not the hot one, the absolute zero cold one. When the guy least expected, he'd get his payback. Killing him or injuring him physically is not a very good kind of vengeance in my mind. Psychological terror is where it's at. That or bang his daughter and leave. LuisBellic
Sometimes i'll just try making peace with someone instead of revenge. But if they did something like Stab my friend or family member with a knife or something I would defintaly get revenge.

pyramid head
I'm posting this here because i think it has some relevance to the topic being discussed. This topic is being discussed on another forum i started this topic there someone there said Doubt it. Hardly worth the consequences. To which i replied There are times when consequences are irrelevant and you just gotta do what you gotta do, to quote the punisher specificially Tom Jane's punisher http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/The_Punisher_%282004_film%29 In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy it is necessary to act outside the law-to pursue…natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment." Even if his punisher felt that revenge was not a valid motive and it was more of an emotional response, i suppose it would depend on the circumstances for which one was seeking revenge the punisher lost his entire family, the guy in stargate only lost one person a friend of his who he liked a lot i suppose whether or not one would call it revenge would vary from person to person, everyone is different what one person calls punishment another would call it revenge. Killing him or injuring him physically is not a very good kind of vengeance in my mind. Psychological terror is where it's at. This, and drag it out for days, weeks on end until he wishes you'd just kill him, then drag it out for even longer after that. Or go all Law Abiding Citizen on his ass and inject them with adrenaline then torture the sh*t out of them in horiffic ways
Typhus
It's weird, I wonder how I would react in a similar situation. If someone hurt my family, how would I react? The weird thing is, I think I could accept that and move on. I think I'd be far more tempted to do something in retaliation if someone did something against me personally. I'm the kind of man who never forgets a slight and carries grudges for years upon years. And selfish as it sounds, I feel a kind of detachment from most of my family, loving most of them only because it is my obligation to do so. But so often I just think how great it would be if I didn't have to worry about them. So, seeking revenge for them doesn't fit my personality at all, it's not something I could imagine doing. The only thing that could move me to revenge is my instinctive vindictiveness.
