Gigahertz2010
I'm experiencing stutter that makes the game unplayable when driving. I usually just test at the intro but I have the same problem day and night. I was going to mention the cinematics twitching but D3DOverrider seems to have fixed that. ...Can I just say I don't know why I'm trying so hard to get this game working? At first I wanted to play the game, but now it feels like a homework assignment I have to get done. However, If I can get it running smooth I think I can still enjoy it. DVD, New install, Patch 1.0.7.0 updated through GFWL, playing offline, no mods Settings: 1680x1050, Aspect ratio 16:10 (auto doesn't work) Most settings are High, except I chose Very High Shadows to reduce flickering. No Night Shadows. All sliders at 30 percent Definition On (off it's fuzzy, doesn't make sense) Vsync running only through D3DOverrider System: Windows 7 64 bit, optimized and defragmented GA-P35-DS3L, newest BIOS Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz, nice heatsink to keep cool 5850 stock clock 500W PSU 4GB DDR2 500 GB 7200RPM Bluray reader I hope you can help. Girish
Have you tried the -memrestrict command as suggested in the pinned topic? That was what got rid of the stuttering on my PC.
OverTheBelow
Very high shadows requires a card with more than 1gb of vram - enabling this as a pose to just 'high' is what your stuttering is caused by.
Gigahertz2010
Thanks guys. By itself, memrestrict didn't do anything but combined with lowering my shadows, the problem's solved for vanilla. But what should I do if I want to start modding, or to use AA? Then the stuttering will come back, right?

No. It is only the use of Very High shadows that causes the stuttering as it exceeds the video ram by almost 50%. Exceeding your video ram results in pop-ins.. delayed graphic assets loading and of course stuttering. I have graphical mods and AA with ENB series and it doesn't stutter at all. Gigahertz2010
I still have stutter and my frames are jumping between 20 and 60. Lowering the shadows helped but it seems like memrestrict never worked. Do you have any other ideas? I even lowered the settings and I'm getting worse results so I'm getting confused here.
