North Korea attacks South

Wait wait wait, internationally all the shells went west into what the international community has sanctioned as South koreas. It doesn't matter if it was close or even if they were practicing an invansion because it's THEIR f*cking nation and they're soverign. And a military drill shouldn't equal the bombing of South Korean islands and towns. And even if South korea was at falut it still doesn't matter the recent delevopment about the nuclear vacilities doesn't help (A delevopment the North wanted to come out) and the whole Chenon boat sinking. North South War is near brink man.

Do you think they care about the international community? They drew the boudary, they warned South Korea, South Korea did it anyway, so they bombed South Korea.

So they draw a boundary is it the right one? Nope, that terrority is South Korea, they have the right to do whatever they want with it. That said, the North attacked the South now the South is pissed and ready to attack them. Hell lets end this sh*t like a previous poster said how much more is South Korea gonna take?

The fact is, North Korea treats that as its own territory. Sovereignty and international recognition mean jack sh*t when you still claim something to be yours.

Besides, starting a conflict with North Korea will only be beneficial if the West actually succeeds in toppling the regime there so the people will actually be, you know, free. They should remain the focus, because they're the ones who we should be "liberating"; we shouldn't be fighting the conflict simply to benefit South Korean and American leadership.

But, we must be careful as to what actually constitutes repression. The Western media propaganda machine is just as powerful as propaganda machines of the past; until you've actually been to North Korea yourself, it's very hard to accurately determine whether people truly live horribly or not. Those mistakes were made far to often at the cost of human life, i.e. Iraq and Kosovo.

Don't think that I'm supporting Kim Jong-Il in anyway, 'cause I certainly am not. But, we should be careful before jumping to conclusions about the actual living standards there just because CNN is telling us so.

Actually going to North Korea teaches you sh*t all. That's mostly because you will never get the full picture of the North Korean condition visiting, even living their would give you limited grasp on what was going on. I read from an expert on North Korean studies that he had been there twice but learned very little and didn't intend to go back, being able to learn most of what he needed from America.

Well yeah, of course, my point was that it's stupid simply to believe something because CNN says so.

Besides the fact that almost every publication on the matter puts North Korea as one of the poorest nations on earth and just looking at a satellite picture of NK at night will show you a profound lack of power. And besides the fact that most defectors agree NK is a totalitarian sh*t hole, you don't have to go somewhere to know there is poverty. Like we all know most of Africa is in poverty, if you don't believe it look at the records, tapes, testimonies. I mean arguing the North Koreans are rich and we just havn't seen it is like arguing that Zimbabwe has a stable dollar.

In any case if we go to war with NK it's only going to end in Kim Jong and son falling. Any war with them would result in the liberation of the people, the unification of Korea (over decades probably) and increased American power in the Pacific; none of which are bad things considering the alternatives. I'm not saying a war with NK would be something to rush into but it's only a matter of time from the way I see it.

BREAKING NEWS

Chinese Missiles Strike Boston Harbor: WWIII Imminent

Breaking News: Battleships from The Peoples Republic of China, and it's North Korean partners have commenced live-fire artillery drills aiming high-explosive missiles into the waters of Boston Harbor. They have assured the Pentagon and the White House that this is simply a training exercise, and the artillery barrage should not be misunderstood as a provocation or act-of-war. President Obama and the Pentagon have promised a forceful and rapid military response.

Yes - this "breaking news" is fictional, but it mirrors exactly what is really happening right now in the oceans off North Korea and China. America and it's South Korean partners DID fire high-explosive artillery into North Korean waters, and they ARE sending battleships to the Chinese coast. The misguided aggression of the US/South Korean partners is clearly a provocation and an act of war. It is War-President Obama's smokescreen to fool the gullible American public, just like GW Bush had his bogus weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... [email protected] off - don't even try. Current events in the Asian oceans are purely "Made in the USA". They come courtesy of the Obama regime and Obama's Pentagon handlers. The days when Presidents gave orders to the Pentagon ended with the death of JFK. Watch the movie "13 Days" if you want to see how a strong, smart President handles the Pentagon. 13 Days should be required viewing for every President-elect.

The only parts of the American economy that are going strong are the Congressional-Military-Industrial Complex and the Prison-Industrial Complex. You have a greater chance of being locked up in America than you do in China or North Korea. Wars and the imprisoning of mostly non-violent Americans have become the greatest make-work programs in American history, after government itself. Are you next? Countless innocent people are locked up in America. The Innocence Project has proven this 100%. Lots of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan have gone into battle zones against their will under "stop-loss orders".

World War Three is Starting Right Now.

China and Russia have a mutual assistance pact in place. The agreement was made in 2002 after America invaded Afghanistan. It is written in Article 3 of the Charter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. They will defend each other in the event of natural disasters and "man made disasters". A man made disaster is just another name for a war. Russian and Chinese military officials meet regularly to enhance and improve their mutual military preparedness, and they conduct regular war games. This military cooperation has accelerated greatly in recent years in response to America's wars without end, and America's saber rattling all over the globe.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, China, Russia, Venezuela, North Korea, Iran and Cuba, are only some of the more well known countries on America's list of enemies. However America is currently preparing for war in every corner of the globe. This is the reason why Obama is letting the various states go bankrupt, and why he is cutting unemployment benefits for millions of people each month. Obama's priority is the upcoming World War Three, not the American people. Obama wants more wars, and he will get them no matter how much provocation is necessary.

If America continues it's reckless aggression and provokes China into a conflict the chance of nuclear war is greater than 90%. It will not be pretty, and it will not be over until every last nuclear weapon has been fired.

Quite a lot of factual inaccuracies and downright bullsh*t here.

The US are always sending naval materiel to the South China Sea. Most of the time they have a fully-whack Carrier Battle Group sitting off the South Korean coast. It's nothing new at all. Their military presence there does not change the fact that the DRPK has been the originator of much of the aggression in the area. I'm not quite sure where you're getting your facts from- the back of a napkin, by the sound of it- but it sounds like you're buying into the DPRK propaganda rather than the free and impartial media.

A few points of reference:

1) The US don't have any operational battleships- not since the Iowa-class were decommissioned about 5 years ago. Aircraft carriers- yes. Guided missile cruisers/destroyer-class ships- yes. Battleships? Nope.

2) What justification would South Korea (assisted by the US according to you, which I find even more improbable) have in firing first? Their whole policy of containing the DPRK is based on pretty complex rules of engagement which means that it's nigh-on impossible for the South to open fire first. Also, with the DRPK's history of irrational behavior, there would be no sense in military provocation- there's no telling the way the North would have acted is the South had fired first.

3) "Bogus" weapons of mass destruction? Bogus intelligence concerning the level of progression in the Iraqi WMD program yes- but WMDs (principally Sarin) have actually been found in Iraq (in fact a Sarin filled 155mm artillery shell was used as an IED by insurgents, hospitalising two US marines), albeit in nowhere near the numbers that they should have been.

Yeah, I'd rather not watch conspiracy ladened bullsh*t. Regardless, if you buy into the realist school of international relations, you'll understand that powerful nations don't need any other justification for military action above their own self-interest. If things in the DRPK become too heated, it is in the interest of the US to protect their allies in Japan and South Korea (financial interest as well as security interest) whereas in contrast the opposite is true of China and the DPRK- they have everything to loose by propping up a psychotic militaristic dictatorship with amongst the worst human rights record on earth. Especially embarrassing as recent document releases have indicated the Chinese have failed in their UN-bound duty to prevent weapons exportation from the DRPK to Iran.

Pure crap. Yes, there are always people who are falsely imprisoned. Buy trial by jury is the most effective way of limiting this. Of course, jury's are privy to people's internal prejudices and beliefs, but the likelihood of finding consensus amongst a group of 12 randomly selected individuals is extremely low unless there is compelling evidence to unite them.

There are lots of falsely imprisoned people in most democratically-governed systems. Even morso in nations without democratic political systems, those in which corruption runs rife, or in authoritarian regimes where the governing figures have an ulterior motive to falsely imprisoning people-namely to quell all other political opinion and to cripple any political or social opposition.

World War Three is Starting Right Now.

Don't be so melodramatic. For reasons I've highlighted about a dozen times now, it's not in the interest of any related party to side with the DPRK in the event of a full-blown conflict.

All true but only relevant if China actually becomes directly involved. Which they won't, as it's not in their vested interest.

And now we come onto the conspiracy bullsh*t. Somalia is a failed state, Yemen is well on the way, North Korea is essentially cut off from the rest of the world, Afghanistan and Iraq are in no position to have any kind of global power standing, Pakistan and the US are doing a hell of a lot of security work together for enemies, the US and Russia have a better relationship now than they have in any time since '45, Cuba are so small they're pretty much irrelevant in economic terms (plus relationships are gradually improving)...the only nation that poses any real economic or security threat in the classical sense is China, and as I've said before, there is no interest in either the US or China for a direct conflict.

As for the other stuff, sounds like the deluded ramblings of a tin-foil-hat lunatic to me. And I work in defense and security, so like to think I've got a pretty good idea of what's going on.

If America continues it's reckless aggression and provokes China into a conflict the chance of nuclear war is greater than 90%. It will not be pretty, and it will not be over until every last nuclear weapon has been fired.

I'd suggest that it takes more than one to tango, and that China has as much a part to play in any developing tension as the US does. I'd also like to point out that even if war were to break out, the likelihood of it being nuclear is essentially nil. No regular armed forces will use nuclear weapons on an operational or even tactical level as (for anyone who understands nuclear doctrine will know) the result is likely the total annihilation of the aggressor. And lets be fair, whose that in the interests of?

No, I'm going to suggest you take a step back from the latent anti-American vitriol that your post is filled with, do some better research, make some logical points that aren't absurdly convoluted and refrain from posting similar diatribes until you understand the nature of international relations and strategic theory a little better.

And can the conspiracy crap.

dog_day_sunrise I tip my cap to you. Your knowledge of current events is a breath of fresh air in an online community. Especially a Grand Theft Auto based community. biggrin.gif

I see Ive missed most of the conversation being 12 pages back, but I feel like jumping in anyways.

@PHCharls - Your welcomed ignorance scares the hell out of me. The fact that a thought process like yours still runs rampant is ridiculous. I was a GW Bush supporter for eight years and I watched as people belittled his every move and labeled him as some sort of Hitler. While I was younger then, I assumed it was just the radical liberal left that aimed to have him removed.

I did not vote for Obama, but in any event I stand by my president, and to see the same argument be made about Obama and this "war hungry" state of mind is sickening. This argument really holds no water and further more takes credibility away from any anti-Bush bumper stickers still clinging on to a 1994 Dodge Caravan.

I will agree that we do have our problems such as the so called "Military-Industrial Complex". I would agree that these recent attacks are the type of thing that gets the snow ball rolling for WW3, but to think Obama and America as a whole would jump right into a war in the Pacific while still battling in the Middle East is naive. Our military presence and pressure of delegates from across the globe has already put the kibosh on any further action.

I would be very careful with taking your information from films, books, and internet sites. You can always chose to believe what you want, but when you package up a gift wrapped bouquet of bull sh*t and deliver it as truth, then theres a problem.

Ha.

Been on the original poster's website. I tend to disregard the opinion of anyone who thinks giving Iran the bomb would beneficial for peace. Not least because the net result would be a nuclear arms race in the Middle East as Saudi Arabia, Dubai and all the other states with relatively small standing armed forces and large Sunni populations scrabble to redress the balance of power with their own nuclear weapons.

Good for no-one.

North Korea says to strike South if drill goes ahead

SEOUL/BEIJING (Reuters) – North Korea said on Friday it would strike again at the South if a live-fire drill by Seoul on a disputed island went ahead, with an even stronger response than last month's shelling that killed four people.

North Korean official news agency KCNA issued the threat as South Korea prepared for firing drills on Yeonpyeong island near a disputed maritime border with the North for the first time since November's exchange of artillery fire.

"The strike will play out a more serious situation than on November 23 in terms of the strength and scope of the strike," KCNA said.

A leading South Korean defense analyst said he doubted the North would carry out its threat, which rattled financial markets, and South Korea's Defense Ministry said the exercise planned for December 18-21 would go ahead.

The North had said its November shelling was a response to South Korean "provocations" after an artillery battery on the island fired in what Seoul said was a routine drill.

North Korea's warning came after Seoul promised a more robust response to any further attacks on its territory. The shelling of the island was the first time since the Korean War that North Korea had attacked South Korean territory.

"They would have to be committing to a full-out war if they did that (struck again)," said Baek Seung-joo of the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, an expert on North Korea's military strategy.

"What's likely is they will do something as a face-saving action, such as firing their own artillery near the disputed waters," he said.

The Korean won currency fell slightly in offshore forward trading against the dollar, with the 1-month non-deliverable dollar/won forwards rising to as high as 1,159 soon after the news broke from around 1,155.

CHINA URGES U.S. TO PLAY CONSTRUCTIVE ROLE

China, the North's main backer, has said Pyongyang had promised restraint. China told visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg the two big powers should cooperate more in defusing tension on the Korean Peninsula.

U.S. diplomatic troubleshooter Bill Richardson is visiting Pyongyang in an effort to "reduce the tension on the Korean Peninsula.

China's top diplomat, Dai Bingguo, urged closer coordination over the Korean Peninsula during talks with Steinberg, the second most senior official in the U.S. State Department, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.

Steinberg was in Beijing for three days till Friday to press China to rein in North Korea, which as well as shelling the island last month also disclosed advances in uranium enrichment that could give it a new path to making nuclear weapons.

China has avoided publicly condemning its long-time ally over the shelling and nuclear program, and instead pleaded with other powers to embrace fresh talks with North Korea.

Russia summoned the ambassadors of South Korea and the United States to express "extreme concern" and urged the two countries to halt the exercise to prevent "the further escalation of tensions," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry said in a statement that U.S. military officers were to observe the South Korean exercise.

"North Korea was called upon to display maximum restraint," the Russian statement added.

The U.S. State Department underscored the U.S. stance that South Korea had every right to conduct the exercises, but indicated that it, too, was worried.

"We are absolutely concerned about the current trajectory," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said, adding that Pyongyang was responsible for raising the tensions.

"We trust that South Korea will be very cautious in terms of what it does, but that said, let's put the responsibility squarely where it lies," he said.

SEEKING NEGOTIATIONS

North Korea is seeking the restart of six-party nuclear talks with the United States, China, South Korea, Japan and Russia.

It wants the talks to resume without preconditions, something Washington and South Korea have ruled out because they do not want to reward Pyongyang for hostile actions.

Analysts say the North uses the threat of attacks and even nuclear conflict to win concessions such as food and economic aid at talks over its nuclear stockpile.

At the same time as the poor, reclusive country is pushing for aid, the North is also in the throes of a potential leadership succession as ailing leader Kim Jong-il grooms his youngest son, Kim Jong-un, as the next ruler.

DPRK doesn't have deployable nuclear weapons. They've detonated two devices, neither successfully, and have no way of launching their primitave weapon even the short hop over the border. Plus they've been threatening nuclear war with the South and US for about 2 decades now. No-one in the strategic sphere takes them even remotely seriously- they were the office in-joke when I worked for DSTL. However, it does look like their time may be nearly up- like Myanmar, their internally-opressive-externally-agressive regime cannot survive for much longer before one of the great power players looses their nerve and crushes them like an insect, whist their so-called allies look on, quietly protesting but secretly quite glad that the embaressing thorn in their side has been dispatched.
