mr_bungle
North Korea has fired dozens of artillery shells at a South Korean island, setting buildings on fire and prompting a return of fire by the South, Seoul's military and media reports said. A witness said residents of the island of Yeonpyeong, off the west coast of the peninsula near a disputed maritime border, had been evacuated. YTN television said 14 South Korean soldiers had been wounded in the shelling, the biggest attack in years. YTN quoted a witness as saying 60 to 70 houses were on fire after the shelling and TV footage showed plumes of smoke coming from the island. It said a South Korean fighter jet had been deployed to the west coast after the shelling. http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/asia/4378199/...h-Korean-island

And I salute you for your patriotism. But this war would simply be a relic of the past. An UNRESOLVED past....I think. North Korea isn't relevant. I wouldn't kill myself over it. Hell, the Korean army is probably dead due to starvation right about now.

Mainland Marauder
why dont we just push the button and get it over with? Geography pop quiz: What country borders North Korea to the north and west? There's your answer. The DPRK is more of a liability for China than anything, but it provides a buffer of sorts as it did between the USSR and the DMZ during the Cold War. China is not going to want US troops that close to their border. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." The Killa
Them firing at eachother isn't new. Wasn't that long ago North Korea sank that South Korean ship killing 30 some-odd, of course they denied it, however. But there is a difference this time, why on earth would North Korea deliberately fire 200 shells on a South Korean island? Oh, and if America gets involved I'm f*cking leaving this country, thanks. E.A.B.
China is not going to want US troops that close to their border. As if US troops would do anything. The US-Chinese relationship is too...what's the word I'm looking for...'glued' to be broken apart. We're talking CRAZY glue here. CRAZY glue. I'm f*cking leaving this country Denmark? Unless I'm missing something, China is communist and supports North Korea, if there is any "relationship" it's held by paperclips and bubblegum. CRAZY CHERRY bubblegum. Denmark? What? No, motherf*cking South Africa. I could blow vuvuzelas all I want.
MrcTOtheJ
God damn. I hope America doesn't take this as a green light. The last thing we need is another war. Let's hope we don't, but knowing us, and our stupidly uncanny need to police the world we probly will. Well, we all knew it'd happen it was a matter of when, and where, and well it's been awnsered. E.A.B.
I don't wanna start a quote train, so; the US-Chinese relationship is like a middle age couple that doesn't like each other that much, but are together because its more economically viable that way. Yep, I think that sums it up well
The-King
I honestly don't think China would make any hostile moves toward us, considering we owe them more than we're worth, why the f*ck would any sane leader sacrifice that asset for the sake of pride? If we got into a war with the DPRK I'd be willing to bet it'd be over within a month or two, a couple of American platoons, some air support and it'd be done with. Their military power is incomparable to even one of our bases. We could wipe them off the map faster than they could declare war, same goes with China quite frankly, but as stated before they're an ally in the sense that the two economies are nearly dependent on one another in their entirety, so that would be utterly stupid, not to mention fruitless. E.A.B.
Militarily, we're better equipped than the average Chinese soldier. MUCH better. But the Chinese army outnumbers our own by a lot, so I wouldn't count them off so quickly

That being said it's going to be very very interesting to see how this turns out over the next few days, nothing quite like military aggression to start the morning.
