On the topic of using .DFFs for LODs, I believe that X-Seti released a tool a while ago for VC which disabled the LODs, causing only DFFs to draw, and it had real impct on performance. Hopefully the same would apply in the RAGE engine, but who knows when you get peds and cars with thousands of polies and special maps involved. But regardless, it's not like you have to replace the LODs anyway, couldn't the draw distance just be massively increased instead? Or is there a draw distance limit?

looks awesome. But I think the water during Midday should be a deeper Blue. Not much deeper but less bright.

This is looking great. Its only been like 3 or 4 weeks and half of the map is aready done. This may show that well have VC in rage in no time and maybe the GTA 3 LC, and SA.

Well if thats the case, then its probably going to be the same for the the night shots, as I was going to suggest that they also need to be darker.

 

I'm sure you remember that VC was renowned for its dark nights, and thats what made the neon lights on ocean drive look so amazing!

 

I know that IV doesn't need the timecyc nights to be dark in order for the neons to take effect anymore (unlike in the GTAIII engine) But I do think an almost black sky would look cooler. smile.gif

and orgcon the sky is more like Miami in randoms timecyc whihc fits nice IMO

Well , can't really do anything here yet without whole of the map. Map is like a paper to write on, (map is the surface that i set values accordingly to).

 

But as i've said i might do some minor fixes (brigten up the sky a bit) but other than that , it gets released like this.

ah ok. Excellent work so far. Vice City would look even more amazing in the RAGE engine if the entire map was actually MADE for the RAGE engine meaning more details better textures etc.

Its transparent just not nearly as much as GTA: VC, SA, VCS, and CTW. Its bearly noticable. Is there a way to edet water transparency because in VC it should look more transparent due to shallow waters.

I am looking for few weeks for updates on this, but on the "IV maps"... How could I know it was here all the time? I feel so uninformed... And now you say you have enough people for the mod.. damn

 

I am a texture artist, I study architecture, and I am also doing the modelling, and would love to make HQ textures and buildings for VC. I was doing HQ building model updates for San Fierro some time ago, and I understand VC deserves it too. I understand you don't maybe need help right now cause you focus on converting, but I would like to join whenever.

I agree, a midnight club map conversion to iv will be pretty interesting instead of the old crappy looking sa To iv
