Hey guys, this kinda scared me as I received a message earlier this month, on the 4th, from Infinity Ward via PSN that MW2 is "coming to its last days".

 

Here's the Message I received verbatim...

 

From: gus_con2011 (random user)

Subject: (blank)

 

"Dear PSN Users

Modern Warfare 2 is Coming To Its Last Days So We Want You All To Enjoy Your Last Days Of Regularly Playing it. Send This Message To All Of Your Friends And Everybody In Your Players Met Lists And You Will Unlock The Secret Weapons In Modern Warfare 2 Which Are The Gold Desert Eagle And The Mac-10 And Challenge Lobby.

That's the exact message, in that same format.

 

Um... WHAT?

 

Please tell me this is one big lie, cause I almost fell for it.

 

I just now got to reading it, lol... I don't check my PSN inbox very often.

It's a hoax, don't believe in these chain letters. There has been more than 15 chain letters like this.

 

There was also one saying that if the "send this message to your friend" doesn't reach the required amount, the next COD won't come out on PS3. But the problem is, I'm playing that 'next' COD right now ON THE PS3. It's all bullsh*t, remember those chain letters on the YouTube comments?

I googled the IW message code, read some other forum discussions, and they too said it was a hoax!

No, dude. I assumed I got the message from that user as he selected me via his Players Met List and simply forwarded to me. I also figured it was legit due to the IW message code.

IW code? Lol. I got the same stuff when challenge lobbies where out. The user would write that the message he sent me was hacked. He would include symbols like "€%&5+¢" and then say after sending to 7 others you would get every challenge/title completed.

 

A little tip, ALL chain messages are BS. If Sony/IW, etc would contact you it would be by email. Although Sony has begun to send users official PSN messages, but not by ramdon users like the one you posted.

The Thing That Tipped Me Off Is That Every Word Was Started With A Capital Letter, How The Hell Do People Manage It? Because I Find It Really Time Consuming And Pointless.

 

Seriously, it took me a minute to type something that would normally take less than 15 seconds.

Yeah, the grammar and person who sent it are a instant giveaway. If IW were to shut the MW2 servers, they would make an announcement on there website and not go to the effort just to find you and send you the message. Not to mention every gaming site in the world would be flooded with articles about it.

Alright, alright guys, yes, I openly admit that I was a naive in thinking this. I understand how dumb I was in thinking this.

Off Topic: In MW2 I've got 190 miles ran with Lightweight right now. As soon as I hit 198 miles ran, I have to switch to Marathon, to level them both together.

 

Marathon V ends at 52 miles ran, and you have to run another 52 miles for VI to finish it. Thus 198+52=250, and 250 miles ran completes Lightweight VI. Like I said, leveling them together. Weird, I know, that's how I am, OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE! All my other perks are finished, only those two remaining. I also have Equipment finished, Basic Training, and Operations. I'm AMOST done with Payback, just have Last Stand to finish. ^_^
