I agree, not to mention BF3, and RAGE which is shaping up quite well.

 

I need to have it on release, but I dont mind if the release is later, if that make sense.

Things get more curious. EA has released it's "release Schedule", naturally ME 3 is on the schedule (mistakenly labelled as coming out Quarter 4) but what is interesting is the platforms ME 3 will appear on, I have red ringed the relevant curious part :-

Now I will confess I am curious about a portable version of Mass Effect 3. It is possible they are going to give an iphone version another shot, god forbid should they attempt to try and bring the game to the Android platform

It seems EA's boss, John Riccitiello has commented on the reasons for the delay with Mass Effect 3 :-

 

 

Essentially, step by step, [bioWare is] adjusting some of the gameplay mechanics and some of the features that you'll see at E3 that can put this into a genre equivalent of shooter-meets-RPG, and essentially address a far larger market opportunity than Mass Effect 1 did and Mass Effect 2 began to approach."

Hm so they delayed the game so they could "tweak" it to make it more appealing to a larger market. Why do I get a strange sense of foreboding about this ? Still I guess we will see what we shall see at E3.

BE WARNED THERE ARE HUMONGOUS SPOILERS IN THESE SCANS. Seriously I am NOT KIDDING there is even a major plot line involving Cerberus that gets spoiled.

 

Now here is a summary of the stuff I have read :-

 

ME 3 will wrap up every major plot thread and significant conflict.

 

Every major character from the series will play a role

 

Reaper threat is everywhere NOT just earth

 

Combat spaces no longer "pop up" barriers and are now multi-layered encouraging you to seek the high ground (oh Obiwan would approve).

 

Every weapon from the last game returns.

 

Why are we fighting Cerberus ?????? well I aint going to tell you, if you want to find out read the scans.

 

Many races have been huskified including the Asari which leads to a hideously bloated pregnant Asari, her gums stripped away and a robot skeleton showing through her rotting flesh (no word on if you can romance her though )

 

The Rachni Husks are covered in huge bulging sacs of smaller baby Rachni, burst those sacs and you unleash a swarm of horrible baby Rachni that crawl all over Shepard

 

The Krogan Husks wear heavy armour plating that you can shear off with intense fire power.

 

Storyline is more like ME 1 than ME 2

 

CONFIRMED party members : Garrus, Liara, Kaidan/Ashley and Tali

 

No New love interests in ME 3

 

If you cheated on your love interest things will come to ahead at the worst possible time.

 

That is the basic gist of the preview, there is quite a bit more but I will leave it for people to decide if they want to read the scans or not.

I'll say this right now, If bioware changes this game for the casual shooter crowd and completely forget about the fans of the original mass effect then, after ME3, I will completely forget about bioware if you know what I mean.

It got delayed? Well good news and bad news for me. Holiday 2011 is my birthday month but I'm glad they delayed it. Seriously it's waaaay too soon for a full realease.

Another mag has had a preview of Mass Effect 3, this time it is OXM's turn to spill the beans. I haven't found any site hosting the scans yet but here are the meat and potatoes of what they had :-

 

 

You can jump and roll, and blindfire has been introduced.

 

As well as gaining civilisation’s allegiance, you can lose them to the Reapers if you don’t play right, similarly to losing squad-mates in the suicide mission.

 

Your weapons have three upgrade slots -scope barrel and grip, and you can change the colour and camouflage of weapons.

 

Cerberus and husks will be main enemies, and cerberus is divided into three main types of troops – heavy bruisers, medium and light.

 

You may be able to get an eyepiece, like Garrus’s, that will allow non-sniper weapons to scope in further, which also hints at armour having more of an effect on gameplay.

 

Bioware are going to announce something big at E3 – a lot of the gameplay features and more squadmates.

I have had a chance to read the scans now and I have to be honest I call "bullsh*t" on this spoiler. This isn't a spoiler released by Bioware, the way it reads it just comes across as the magazine speculating it will happen.

 

If you want to check out the scans but not be spoiled then simply stay away from the yellow box on page 6 in the top right hand corner, that is the location of the spoiler.

His new name is James Vega well at least according to Casey Hudson. I wonder why they changed his last name ? could it have anything to do with them being fed up of people speculating that James Sanders was the result of some illicit encounter between David Anderson and Kahlee Sanders ? Anyway this is what Casey Hudson had to say :-

Actually, I don't have a data plan, so twatter and faceplace can only be used in wi-fi areas. In other words, useless.

Yeahhhhhhh it's yet another mag preview, we haven't had one of them in the last 48 hours . This time it is the turn of Xbox World UK (July). So if you don't want to know a single thing about anything ME 3 related then look away now

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Right gone ? good, OK most of the stuff in the mag is stuff we already know but there are one or two interesting titbits. I have used spoilers where I think appropriate and tried to give a hint what the spoiler pertains too, so you can make a better choice about whether to read the spoiler. So here we go :-

• According to Casey Hudson the game is "not really at the point where we can show you a ten minute cross-section of what the final game's gonna look like"
• Not an "Alien Invasion" story but a Galactic war story
• Confirmed characters that will make an appearance Zaeed is in, so is Thane and Mordin and the rest (assuming they survived ME 2).
• Casey Hudson concedes that 12 team mates was too big. So ME 3 will have a smaller number of squad mates but with deeper relationships and more interesting interplay. My own personal guess is between 6 - 8 squad mates, so far we know of 4 confirmed squad mates which leaves 2 - 4 left to be revealed.
• Illusive man is back (well duh)
• Jack is back (but NOT confirmed as a squad mate), she is also sporting a new look which consists of a softer look and now has hair, the final design is not finished yet but will be something along the lines of a mohawk with a pony tail
• Every weapon is modular and can be customised with up to five modifications. A scope increases a rifles zoom factor, new barrels increase accuracy or damage
• Level spacing is vast and can accommodate 600 ft Reapers and 50ft Mechs, the following spoiler shows that something interesting happens with a mech later in the game (one that Shepard gets to pilot later in the game)
• not a story spoiler but a level spoiler detailing a fight and chase scene - there is a section where you're running on a narrow walkway and there's a war going on all around you and a ship is in the distance. Suddenly its nuclear core blows up and it's such a shockwave it knocks you off the walkway and you end up sliding down the glass face of a knocked over high-rise
• The interactive prologue at the beginning of ME 3 may NOT be in a comic book style.
• Casey Hudson has hinted that there is a special surprise for those that import a save that has been through ME 1 and ME 2.
• Derek Watts, Lead Artist confirms they do look at fan art all the time and says "when you go to DeviantArt, you've got to put some kind of filter on because they're doing something awful with Garrus, and oh my GOD, just leave some clothes on him for once"
• Doing things with the unreal engine they never thought possible in ME 1.

Most of the other stuff in the article has already been covered by previous previews. All in all it sounds pretty cool, I am glad they are knocking the squad mate numbers down. I always felt that due to the large number of squad mates you were never given the opportunity to get to know them properly.

 

Oh and just as I was off to bed Casey Hudson confirmed that there will be removable helmets in ME 3 and armour customisation will be much better in ME 3 :-

 

 

We'll do more with the armor customization in #ME3 and you'll be able to equip or remove helmets.
