Chrome Car Mods Problem

Some of the cars I download for my game and install them are all shiny and chrome. I understand it's a problem with the graphics, but is there a way to change it? I run it on a Mac using a Cider port. How can I open the TXDs of the downloads and get rid of the chrome?

Note - I don't care if reflection is turned off completely and there's no chrominess at all. I'm just sick of downloading a cool car and having it be all silvery and stupid-looking. So even if the solution is somehow turning off all reflectiveness in the game, that's fine.

The MotorHeads I knew would get upset if their cars got dirty, they were always shining them and doing detail work. They wanted showpieces to drive to exibitions, rarely drove for fun.
