Hi!

So I've had an Idea about a car...and I drawn it.

Ive drawn a lot of cars but this one is most original, it just a little bit resembles and audi i think.

What do you think do I have something here or just another dumb cartoon car.

Sorry low detail...

Looks good for a start, i recognized the R8 by looking at it...

btw, gif is not the only format that supports transparency, you can save it as .png

Sweet.

Tyres. Now, i know from experience that these are one of the most annoying and difficult parts of the car to perfect, but they should definitely be rounder. First thing i noticed when it loaded was that the back tyre was a rectangle.

Perhaps you could erase the inner darkness and emphasise the rim a bit more on that back one, too, like you have on the front one, but the angle that you've drawn the rim is good.

Um, there should be a gap between the front mount intercooler and the bottom of the car. They always have a stabilising piece of carbon fibre or fibreglass there because the front mount is inside the front bumper, not just hanging out the front.

Either you should drop the far right corner of the car's left headlight (our right) or curl the the right headlight up a bit more before it disappears to the other side of the car, so that they're equal.

Last pedantic thing - you should be able to see the support of the car's righthand wing mirror through the windscreen and out the passengers window. It doesn't just disappear behind the roof support.

But, dont get me wrong, this is a really nice drawing. Well done. These little things won't make the car, just perfect it.

I would put up my drawn cars but i give them all to my gf who puts them on her wall.

It's far from bad, but nothing spectacular.

From an artistic standpoint, its got decent perspective and clean lines.

From an autmotive standpoint, it looks like the Audi R4 concept, it what ever the mini-R8 was called. I don't really see much originality, to be honest. Not that that's a bad thing, but you're posing it as so, that's why I'm mentioning it.

Keep up the work though, practice makes perfect. I started drawing cars from time to time about 8 years ago and I still pretty much hate each one I come up with, although I've got a picture up with about 15 different car sketches on deviantart that has been favorites way more than I would have expected.

Hey is anything original on the car?

I'd say headlights.

And the length of the car. For the width, it is certainly an original length. If it was an actual concept by a vehicle manufacturing firm, they would've calculated the length of it in comparison to the width, proportion-wise to give the most aerodynamic outcome.

The length of a car doesn't really matter as much as the width... it's more about handling dynamics when it comes to length vs width. And really, I'm sure the measurements of the car weren't completely intentional on fenom's behalf. At least from my experience, I always find it difficult to get the length/width down correctly.

Here's a link to the drawings I was referring to in my last post. As you can see a lot of the cars have too short of a wheelbase and very short front and rear over-hangs. But, they're all concept-car style which look like this a lot. Yeah, that's my excuse! tounge2.gif

And here's a couple more recent ones.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread. Just posting these as more of a reference point for my ability after drawing cars in my free time for the past 8 or so years. If I had all my old drawings in my apartment I'd post some of the very first car drawings I seriously tried on. They're pathetic in comparison, and I don't say that to be cocky of my current work. I like it, but there's PLENTY of room for improvement. Btw, I f*cking HATE drawing wheels and tires.

I suppose everyone has their own opinions, but i cant say i like those ones tooooo much. Some are very nice and it is good to get some from different angles, but they seem to be far too cartoon-ish, if you know what i mean. They are very angular and their curves are highly exaggerated, giving the appearance of a cartoon drawing.
