Combine all gta's and make a country?

Recommended Posts

They have already done that:

San Andreas

Vice City

Liberty City

In one of the first GTA's, it was a country.

Unless, when they have done and dusted with the whole series and they make a

GTA ADVANCE 2

or

GTA ADVANCE 2.0

Otherwise, IMO it would be a crap idea. sorry

It'd be cool to have all 3 games' cities included in one game, but it would most likely take up waaay too much RAM and not be possible.

You could have them a bit separated to avoid using too much RAM. Like getting to other cities only by boat or heli (or swimming tounge2.gif ). Imagine a 30 seconds trip on an airplane, that gives enough time to alternate the computer usage from one city to another in a place where you need little RAM.

With them separated you can only be in one city on each time but still be able to travel to wherever you want.

The RAM doesn't matter in any way - at no point is the entire game world loaded. Usually, some sort of LOD is generated. That's how you can have Just Cause-sized maps. The problem is with the overall size of the map and the implications: It'd be quite impossible to fit three LC-sized cities, with the same amount of atmospheric and graphical detail, onto a Blu-Ray disk. And considering the fact that GTA IV was already the most expensive game ever made, it doesn't seem very feasible to triple that at the moment.

I admit they wont do it because they need to make money by selling separate games.

But it is possible...a new blu ray disc (16 layered) can hold 400gb of stuff (yeah yeah i know pc and xbox would miss out) but don't say its not possible (and it works with existing blu ray players too)

They are also talking of a 1TB blu ray disc.

I've never liked the idea of combining LC, VC, and SA. I know it was done in GTA 1, but that was before cinematic plots became a vital part of the franchise.

The problem I have with something like this is how do you create a flowing story that keeps you interested over so many varying environments, and characters? I don't mind a multiple city state like in SA, but never been a huge fan of this idea to be honest.

I don't think the PC would miss out. Any PC user could upgrade their disk drive to Blu-Ray drive. But I don't know about MS. I heard they are still pushing the HD-DVD format in Xbox 360 to compete with PS3's Blu-Ray.

HD DVD rolleyes.gif get with the program xbox and get a blu ray player... HD DVD is basically the same except less storage capacity, less security, and more susceptible to scratches, also this is going to make things more complicated for game companies...well anyway.

Xbox's problem is that they released their xbox too early and are now upgrading upgrading...add on after add on...when will it end?

They might as well have brought out a whole next gen console by now for god sakes.

Even though ps3 release was constantly delayed, and ps3 cost more...they got it all just about right the first time round.

(sorry if this is a little of topic)

Point is...this could work...but i think its a bad idea.

Combine all the cities, add multiplayer and make it free-to-play...

let's call it gta world smile.gif

Not the current ones, anyway. And yes, the key issue here is that they'll get more money by making separate games - and they won't have to cover the quadrupled production costs.
