Its gotta be Tenpenny. That man had was a mean bastard, he had character and depth but above all - you hated him. In other games you hardly ever see the antagonist, he's some superficial figure interacting with you through others, but Tenpenny in SA was bad-ass.

Tenpenny. He was evil, he had real motives. He was also a manipulator. Pulaski just did whatever Frank said. And it helps that he was actually in the game all the time giving you some missions. And it was just so easy to hate the guy. He had character. He wasn't just a mindless villain just for the sake of having one. And it's Samuel L. Jackson so it's instant awesomeness. Kinda weird that one of Jackson's best works is voice acting for a video game character.

I'll have to go with Officer Tenpenny. He was a real joy to watch sometimes and I liked how they made him evil in a fun way. He also had a twisted view about how criminals should be dealt with and was not afraid to take the law in his own hands. He was definitely the most well developed antagonist they have created.

the same reasons why i chose him and partly because he was voiced by samuel l jackson

Mine is Catalina Vialpando, I know she tried to kill CLAUDE and obviously I hate her, but she is my favorite antagonist to hate! She was crazy and fun, and it's interesting to have a woman as an antagonist. alien.gif

Obviously Sonny Forelli, there's no competition. Mob Boss that had the balls to come to Florida to kill one of his old best friends. True, he failed horribly, but he still had more balls then Others.

I'm the only one that liked Billy Grey?

Tenpenny's character never made sense to me. He's a street cop. Big f*cking deal. You can kill hundreds of them in any given playthrough. Big Smoke, to me was the real villain, and a much deeper character. All you know about Tenpenny is that he's a crooked cop that wants to use CJ. His motivations are vague at best. The only great thing about Tenpenny, is his voice.

Mostly agree with mr. darthYENIK there.

Big Smoke is more justifiable as a "main" antagonist, why isn't he listed? That's a story of someone close to the main character who ends up stabbing you in the back. A story of betraying friends and family for drugs and a supposedly "higher life" (wait.. that's what happened right? been so long) but instead ends up going insane and ultimately gets killed by the ones that were closest to him. An original yet classical gangster story.

Meanwhile, Tennpenny is a crooked cop.. who is.. well a crooked cop. There's not much to it. I wonder if Big Smoke was voiced by Samuel L. Jackson everyone would be saying Big Smoke was the best, but to each their own.

But regardless of all that I voted Catalina. Maybe I just have my nostalgia goggles on but she's unique. A woman (!) that leaves you for dead which led to a huge city-wide (wo)manhunt for her. Felt so satisfying when I finally killed her.. nearly 9 years ago when I first completed it and I swear I could have shouted "yeah piss off ya c*nt!". Yes I was saying that as a young lad back then.

Spoilers to GTAIV down below.

That's almost exactly how satisfied I was with Killing the f*ck out of Dmitri . You spend half the game getting antagonised by his phone calls, and his persona is so amazing for a villian. A total low-life scum bag. Lower than anything we had seen on GTA. He'd betrayed his best friend simply to get a bit further ahead in the world.

Still, Big Smoke was only Tenpenny's puppet who did everything he was told. What made Tenpenny such a good antagonist was that the manipulated people into doing what he wanted.

Why lance vance wasnt added? He was your friend throughout the game until he sold you out to sonny and almost had you killed.

The topic is about main antagonist I guess that's why Smoke, Lance and some other antagonists aren't on the list. I would like to see a poll with all antagonists. That's be interesting to see.
