LazlowsucksiloveslutS
Today,I got this idea of getting a Harley Davidson theme for my Windows 7. So,I downloaded the theme and also Windows Theme Installer. Through WTI,I replaced shell.dll file, explorer.exe and some framedll sh*t with some stuff from Harley theme's folder. (no brains,i know) After I restarted the laptop and logged in,I got Atbroker.exe and ntvdm.exe error messages, bot with the same message "the application was unable to start correctly".And the screen is black, can't do sh*t. My laptop is Hp Pavilion dv6 entertainment notebook.I can't start Windows in safe mode.because, during the HP logo at the start,it only has options for system diagnostics, boot devices and Bios. Do I have any other options than to get a new laptop ?
Tommy-Vercetti19
Well most HP's have a recovery tool that come with it. It should be in the instruction manual or on HP's site, i'm not to sure i don't know HP's to well.
coin-god
Reinstall Windows? Seriously, why would you buy a new laptop??
dice
Also you get into safe mode by restarting your computer and tapping f8 when you see your computers hardware information getting listed. From there a system restore will probably do the trick.
Otter
You can also try Windows repair. I'd suggest giving this a shot trying recovery mode.

OverTheBelow
I always thought System Restore only restored registry information. o_O

GTA!!!
I always thought System Restore only restored registry information. o_O It formats and restores your hard drive to how it was when you first bought your PC/Laptop. It does not deletes any documents or other files on Hard Disk. Just uninstalls Drivers and other related programs installed at that time.

AmyJones
In the future, be very care full where you download windows themes or mods. Im serious, about 80% of these so called windows mods are re-productions of previous malware programs that install many programs. Even though you may have got your laptop back into working order I strongly suggest you run anti-spyware and anti-malware programs in safe mode.
