Rifle Skill (?) Hitman

I wish I snapped a screenshot because I'm sure some of you might think I'm full of it.

I was doing the mission Yay Ka-Boom-Boom on the PC, version 1.0, I entered the gates of the crack factory and got out of the car to blast the guys, I switched to an mp5, without firing a shot the screen said "Rifle Skill Hitman Level Reached"

WTF is that? There is no rifle skill level! Is there something hidden in the game that was removed but somehow activated on this scene? (much like boating skill was in the game but then remmed out)

Uh, that's what it says when you reach hitman level on all weapons. You just did that. It says rifle skill.

I've never heard of any Rifle status of any kind.

Of course I've never bothered to use any other than the Sniper-Rifle.

 

Tried the Cheat for Hitman status, Yes it does say 'Rifle Skill -- Hitman Level... etc.'

In fact, when the 'Hitman Skill' cheat is entered, a popup will appear saying: "Rifle Skill Hitman Level reached"

In the original game they were planning on adding a rifle skill (and possibly a sniper rifle skill) to the stats menu. They didn't include it in the release though, but the cheat sets all skills to 100% and rifle is included, and due to it being the last of the skills alphabetically it is the one you see.

 

It is a shame really, I would have liked to see a functioning rifle skill.

I used no cheats and have no mods installed. It was just a random quirk. When I checked the Weapons Stats screen however there was no rifle skill listed. Unless the hitman cheat involves the keys around WASD then it truly was a glitch.
