I have a problem with GTA san andreas game

I installed the game.It runs for 5-10 minutes then a crash develops.A black square box comes on the desktop and a dialog box appears-Gta sa has encountered a problem that needs to be closed(in this condition half of the desktop is visible and half is black)

In event viewer I saw several error messages like

1.Faulting application gta_sa.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module d3d9.dll, version 5.3.2600.2180, fault address 0x000f7e54.

I submitted the report to microsoft.it says to go to take2games.com and download an update

site-http://www.take2games.com/index.php?p=support&product=191%2C3%2CGrand+Theft+Auto%3A+San+Andreas+-+Second+Edition%2CPC%2CRockstar_Games%2Cgtasa&section=patches

but this site displays its home page but not the update page.

I tried reintalling the game but the error continues.

the Windows 'help' is stupid it will always send you there, but there is no help.

The only download available is for the Version 1 game, as all fixes are incorporated in the later versions.

PRE-TROUBLE-SHOOTING QUESTIONS:

PROBLEM SOLVING:

If you have changed OS or Screen settings, If your system upgraded anything (drivers, etc) Delete the GTA_SA.set File.

Are you playing the game in W98/XP mode, with Administrative Privileges?

And... before people here begin investing a lot of time trying to fix a possible NO-FIX situation:

How are you playing:

1. With the Original DVD in the Drive?

2. OR are you Using a 'backup' disc?

3. Are you Using a No-CD program or crack?

4. With a Downloaded game that did not come from Direct2Drive or SteamPower.com?

5. Other source? Please specify.

If you have installed mods, search or post a topic in the MODDING forum

Answering these questions may help to identify the problem
