manofpeace
http://www.scribd.com/doc/40744855/Schwarzenegger-v-EMA It's a 72 page .pdf, so I can't copy and paste the whole thing, but I can definitely summarize it for you. This whole thing is 72 pages of verbal beat down as the Supreme Court picks apart every single f*cking reason this guy put forth, and shows how every single thing he says is bullsh*t. You can tell the Supreme Court members are just wondering why they're wasting their time with this nonsense. As far as they care, the Video Game industry has its own regulation system which means less work for the government. That's why both left and right judges were slamming this guy: everybody has enough common sense to realize how f*cking stupid this whole thing is. tl;dr version: "How about we ban violent video games?" "How about I slap your sh*t?" Edited November 2, 2010 by manofpeace
illspirit
Haven't read the transcripts yet, but the snippets I've seen around the net sound promising. And here I was worried that Scalia might go the other way.
darthYENIK
I don't know much about this bill, but I hear people saying it is an infringement on the 1st amendment. Can someone explain this to me? What does video game sales have to do with the 1st amendment?
tubbs51
I don't know much about this bill, but I hear people saying it is an infringement on the 1st amendment. Can someone explain this to me? What does video game sales have to do with the 1st amendment? creating video games is a form of Free Speech and from what ive gathered a while ago had the court ruled the other way it would have caused graphic games that we all know and love to become almost non existent or at least unknowingly released... but i honestly dont know much about this... darthYENIK
So their claim about it being unconstitutional is that minors bring in so much money that if they weren't buying violent video games, video game publishers would take the violence out to fit demand. I could understand if the bill were outlawing the creation of violent video games, that it would be a violation of game developer's 1st amendment rights, but if what you say is true, that seems like too much of a stretch. I'm all for making it so kids can't get inappropriate games without their parents, but if that's at the cost of publishers not wanting to release a game because of it's content is too much of a price. That said, pulling out the freedom of speech card to oppose it, just doesn't feel right to me. I mean, it sounds like it would be the publisher's choice to edit their games. If they were required by law, I would understand, but it sound like a decision the publishers would have. But like I said, I'm not real versed in what's going on with this. Some people just can't live with pixelated women's parts on their children's television. At least that was one of the major issues they were talking about on G4.com. Are you being sarcastic? It's a well known fact that he started steroid use before the age of 19 even. As for this bill, I think it's BS, but I don't really care because it isn't going to affect me in the slightest. Arnie may lose a few fans, but I doubt he cares anymore. @Pico- Nice Last Action Hero reference.
