I don't know how you expect to initiate discussion of a film when you can only get out one f*cking line about it in your own topic. No one will bother unless you bring something new to the table. Otherwise, guess what? We've all f*ckin' seen A Clockwork Orange, it's great, we get it, no one has anything to add to "whos only happiness is Bad" If you are passionate about a film, you should be able to write thousands of words about it, it's not difficult, unless you're too God-damn lazy to do it. In which case, why even bother making a topic about it? No one is going to contribute to a bad topic, no matter what the subject is.
Canofceleri
Actually, WidowMaker, Alex is a character whos only happiness is bad. Just kidding. Anyway, Clockwork is a great movie. I've read the book and was impressed by it, but the movie is its own experience entirely. Kubrick really was in top form producing some of the most resonating imagery in Western cinema. I understand the movie has its detractors, many think it is a triumph of style over practically no substance and therefore are offended by the ultra-violence which they feel is unjustified. I don't really care a bit about all that sh*t. Kubrick, in the second half of his career starting with 2001, really makes movies that are very simple in their actual plot, very basic. The Shining and Clockwork Orange I think are the two best examples of this, trading in an involved plot for a chance to broadly address several themes and more importantly a mood. I watch a Kubrick movie, and I definitely watch A Clockwork Orange, because of the mood it puts me in. Kubrick, I think, is one of the absolute greats, because his cinematic language is so unique and so effective.
RARusk
"Its a Masterpiece in my Mind. the Character Alex is a Intelligent Teenager, Whos only happiness is Bad." This sounds like an internet meme waiting to happen..... "One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do."
trip
I would suggest reading the book. The only thing I didn't like about the book was that huge glossary of terms in the back. I swear that glossary doubles the amount of time it takes to read the book. I was forever having to page back to the glossary for definitions. Aside from that the movie was very unique and enjoyable. I'm actually reding it now and my copy doesn't have a glossary, I find that it's quite easy to work out the meaning of words given the context. Like everybody else, I'm able to understand sh*t through context, but I needed that glossary. I recall thinking I might know a word only to be surprised to find out I was wrong after checking the glossary. QwertyAAA
Eh, I know most of the languages that make up Nadsat. It was pretty easy to read it, though the shifts took a bit of time.
