So i finally decided to cave in and buy GTA IV for pc. i installed it and everything went okay but when i actually play the game it is somewhat slow and the only visably things i see are Roman, Street lights, the sky, and a few cars and peds here and there. Here are my computer specs

Rating: 4.5

Processor: Intel® Core i3 CPU M 330 @2.13GHz 2.13GHz

Installed Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB (3.80 usable)

System Type: 64-bit operating system

i dont know what to do next and id hate to have the game and not even use it as i cannot return it since it is opened.

Your Using a Mobile Processor which means your obviously on a laptop.

And your laptop probably (most likely, maybe not) has integrated graphics which would explain your problem. ):

Unless there's some magic way to put a mobile graphics chip in your laptop (which really there might be, idk :\) Then your outta luck for playing GTA IV on that machine.

So i guess there's no hope. =(

Yea im on my laptop, i guess thats what i get for not checking to make sure it would work first.

I was really looking forward to playing this on pc for a change. Thanks for your help guys i really appreciate it.

Looks like ill be digging out my old pc from storage....if i can find it that is.

What do you mean? I'm confused....

Did i do something wrong?

Actually, GTA IV will run on lower graphics cards with lower settings and playable framerates as long as you do not upgrade to the latest patch

You'll have to us a GFWL offline account to do so and also seek out the 1.0.4 patch (1.0.6 and 1.0.7 were made for LCS and broke GTA4 but nobody here wants to admit it) but you should be able to lower the settings and play it decently

you can upgrade graphics in many laptops, not all though.

What i do when i get a laptop is right away find out what vid card it has, then I go to ebay and look for that same laptop and read teh specs of all the ones I see. If one has a better graphics card, i search for that card on ebay. if I can't find it, I search for the motherboard and hope I find a mobo with a gpu on it. Then i buy that gpu. If I am lucky, I also see if I can get a faster cpu in the deal.

but with your issue, I would recommend cleaning the heatsinks on that laptop. If it is over 6 months old, and you have a cat, I bit half of your cat is stuck between that fan and that heatsink. They always are. . update the heck out of your drivers.

Do not overclock that laptop to play this game, you could make the issue worse.

On some occasions, R* north rep comes in here and helps people. you might want to lurk his posts.

The issue you are having right now, many people had when the game was released because ATI/AMD sucked at drivers. They have since then fixed their issue. R* caught a lot of flack from that. Many of the users here are still bitter. Easier to blame rockstar because all of their other games didn't call on the commands that rockstar does with gtaiv, and well if no one calls on those processes, then why would the video card companies focus on that when they update their drivers?

So yeah expect to see some angry trollish responses here. They are not bad people, they just don't understand.

Here is a "How To Fix GTIV" I posed a while back. Caught lots of hell over it, but most people have seen the light ..
