Mister Pink
PC is obviously the more advanced and technically superior. However, knowledge of how PCs, graphics cards and troubleshooting potential problems with either a game crashing, specifications and whatnot is extremely preferable. Consoles, are ready to go. They are more mobile and don't require the user to have much technical know how. It's obviously why consoles are the more popular option. If you grew up on PC gaming, moving on to a console (I imagine) would be like a serious downgrade. If you have the best it's really hard to go down a step. For me, I grew up on console gaming. I pick it up as I go along and go about my business. Viewing graphics on a good PC is like a bonus or a peak into the future of console gaming (visualy/graphically). To say that one is better than the other is a bit....eh.. I dunno. Yes, technically a PC is better but it's all about what suits the user. It annoys me when folk get fanboyish over platforms. As I said, what ever suits your needs, shall do. RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)

I think you've misheard me. I don't play many multiplayer games as is, but the ones I do play usually include Halo or the likes. I have nothing against Ps3 as a console, but I just think the multiplayer is even more immature than xbox's.

Algonquin Assassin
If you grew up on PC gaming, moving on to a console (I imagine) would be like a serious downgrade. If you have the best it's really hard to go down a step. Not necessarily. Although I used to own an Atari, and a Sega Megadrive the majority of my early gaming years was spent on a PC. This was around 94-96. When I got my PS1 in 97 I never looked back. I've only played a couple of PC games in the last 13 years, but for me consoles are much easier to live with now. I just hate going back to using a keyboard, and a mouse. I know you can hook up a controller, but that defeats the purpose of playing on a PC. Might aswell play on a console. Graphically I've seen some amazing looking PC games, but honestly I don't think consoles are that much different. Infact I think the differences are a bit exaggerated. IMO I don't think either platform is "better" than the other. There are advantages, and disadvantages to owning a console, or a PC. I currently game on a console, because that's what I like to do. I play Call of Duty 6 better at 1080p when compared to playing at console's blurry 600p because I can see more detail and less smudge.

tubbs51
it all depends on the players likes and dislikes... i like the 360's controllers and i hate the PS3s (too damn small and it feels too flimsy), i prefer xbox's exclusives more than the PS3's (i love Fable and Halo and i cant stand Metal Gear or Killzone), I like to party Chat with friends when we're playing different games... i dont mind paying for online capabilities cause in my opinion i prefer the xbox's stuff more than PS3... and yes i have played the PS3.... the only thing i like is LBP im jealous of that of everything MS can buy rights to as well i would want LBP

ptiko
I think another main reason I love PC gaming over consoles is that its personal/custom. Yeah, consoles are some what easy compared to PC but there is nothing like building your own gaming PC
The-King
I grew up on console gaming with my only access to a PC being computers of Mac design. Always had a slight interest in PC gaming, but I never really knew enough to justify even considering the purchase of a high end PC, upon graduating High School my grandmother bought me a laptop and I made sure to choose a decently powerful one (far from as powerful as I'd like now that I actually know what's what in regards to hardware) and since then I've fallen in love with PC gaming and everything about it. Now I have every intent to buy a gaming rig once I can scrounge enough money together for one. It's truly wonderful and there's so much more immersion and feeling to it than any other form of gaming, it's undeniable. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|
baptiste
The whole "it depends on the person" argument really doesnt carry any weight in this case because the question was: which is best, not which is best for you. Like it or not, factually speaking, PC gets better graphics, better control over content, mods, and the mouse/keyboard combo which will always be infinitly better than a controller in a very large portion of game types. FPS, TPS, MMO's, RPG, RTS are all games who end up being vastly superior on the pc; with RTS and MMO's simply not existing on console. And as for FPS and TPS, you dont need to be a f*cking detective to figure out a mouse is more accurate and faster than a controller, no matter how much auto-aim you shove into a console. The only exception being if you REALLY suck and cant actually aim with a mouse at all and have to rely on console auto-aim to do anything. I'll grant you that racing games are probably better on console, but seeing as if your a racing game buff, you should have a wheel, which is obtainable on console and PC, then this argument is pretty futile. Action-Adventure are also probably better on console, which is the only real point that I will grant. Dont get me wrong, I see how I'm coming off as a PC fan-boy, but I actually own a 360, for the sole reason of getting certain games that dont come out on PC, and I absolutly love my 360 for that. GTAIV, RDD, Halo3/reach come to mind. You could consider that a strenght, and I'm sure some people would, but it wont end up counting for THAT much in the end. Plus, PC gets its own exclusifs if you really wanna keep score. As for 360 vs PS3, the argument here is pretty futile imo, as it comes down, to which exclusifs you wanna play in 95 percent of the times. You wanna play Halo/fable/GoW or do you wanna play GoW/Heavy Rain/MGS4? Controller type is also of concern, but really if all the games you wanna play are on another console, I've no doubt a large amount of gamers would make the switch. With consoles, actually getting into the argument of which is better is completly retarded, because apart from games, none REALLY shines above the other like the PC does over console. CharmingCharlie
The controller, the 50 inch hd TV and also you can play with friends at your place. Firstly if you wish to use a controller you can do that on the PC as well, if you wish to use a 50" display guess what you can do that with a PC as well. The only thing you are left with is split screen gaming which from what I have seen is pretty much dead on the consoles these days unless you count sh*tty party games that no self respecting gamer would be seen dead playing. At least with a PC if you choose to connect it up to your 50" TV you actually do get true HD 1080p rendered graphics, rather than the faux 1080p on consoles which is usually sub HD res upscaled to 1080p Edited November 16, 2010 by CharmingCharlie
GrandMaster Smith
The controller, the 50 inch hd TV and also you can play with friends at your place. The only thing you are left with is split screen gaming which from what I have seen is pretty much dead on the consoles these days unless you count sh*tty party games that no self respecting gamer would be seen dead playing. Me and my friends play halo reach split screen quite a bit and its pretty entertaining. Sure the smaller screen can be crappy but its well worth it imo. It is much more difficult to set up a lan party with a bunch of pc's compared to getting four people on one screen no doubt.. And yeah you can use a controller with a pc but doesn't that somewhat defeat the purpose? PCs are powerhouses and dominate console on specs no doubt, but the simplicity of being able to just pop in a disc and knowing (for the most part) it'll boot up right away is peace at mind especially compared to what you have to go through sometimes getting a game to work on a pc. It is all personal preferences no matter what, one is not 'better' than the other because each one has their own percs and cons. If you want an outdated motion controller, get a wii, if you want an updated motion controller, get a ps3, if you want a full body motion device with bugs here and there, get the kinect. Not one is perfect but i doubt any of them are completely horrible neither. Its just each to their own.

CharmingCharlie
I merely pointed out that playing a game on the PC is not quite the Herculean effort that people like to make it out to be these days. You seem to be quite proud of the fact all you have to do is "pop in a disc" to play a game on a console. I simply pointed out I don't even need to "pop in a disc" to play a game. I totally agree with you that platform choices are personal I never seek to convert any one to become a PC gamer. However I don't like things being misrepresented when it comes to the PC. You clearly tried to show that consoles are so easy because you just put a disc in and I corrected that by showing PC's can be just as easy to game on if not easier at times.
