Garfield 2
Hey there guys. My CPU is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 on stock speeds (for now). I had a problem like this around 4 months ago but it somehow fixed itself. My CPU Fan which is a stock Intel Fan, ran at around 2700rpms. At the moment, it doesn't go over 1900rpm... My computer even on STOCK speeds overheats (It got to a point where Core 0 had 91 degrees celcius so I shut it down immediately. At the moment I have 1595 RPM and the temperature is 44-46 degrees. It's a bit hot in the room, but I don't think that fan speed would be affected by that. Any ideas? Wolf68k
How do you know it's over heating? What signs are you getting to come to that theory?
Garfield 2
How do you know it's over heating? What signs are you getting to come to that theory? NFS Undercover, Medium Details, 1280x800 (1680x1050 max) AA off and I get up to 75 degrees. Before with the fan at 2700rpmish I never went over 65... SyphonPayne
Clean the HSF? Reseat the HSF? Replace the HSF? Intel stock HSF sucks anyway.
anus
Try turning off the fan PWM from the BIOS so that the fan runs at full speed all the time.
