I came across this little nugget on the BBC news website today, I personally do not know what to make of it. If this clip is legit then you have to wonder just what is going on.

 

 

George Clarke from east Belfast has been puzzled for more than a year by a scene in a film which appears to show a woman talking on a mobile phone.

 

The unusual thing is that the movie was made by Charlie Chaplin in 1928 - long before mobile phones were invented.

Is it really someone using a mobile phone in 1928 ? is it an iphone ? a Blackberry ? or even an Android phone ? We just don't know, all scientists can say for sure is that if this is someone "time travelling" then they sure as hell have the intelligence to not use a new Windows 7 phone

It's not a bloody phone it's a hearing device. There was a hearing device in that period that resembles the cell phone when you look at it from afar. Also, that scene is not from the movie it's in the bonus DVD in behind the scenes so it could have been faked for this purpose alone.

Definately this right here. I don't think anything close to cellphone towers existed in 1928. Also, phone lines back then definately wouldn't work with a cell phone (assuming that she would be calling somebody). If that would be the case, then that would be a heavily modified phone. I'm not like totally blocking the idea, Her fingers is in a phone holding pose, And at the end she clearly talks...

Maybe it was a hearing device, And somebody from the movie set told her something when she turned to the camera, And that's why they ended this scene kinda fast before she totally pass the camera view.

But hearing aids at this era were pretty big i guess and she should have held it differently.

Well, you see, the thing here is, the Internet, radio, cell phone networks? They've been there for centuries. They're basically natural resources that we're using. Somewhere in orbit around Earth is a natural satellite that can transmit all of the pornography on the internet if and only if you can connect to it and decode its signal. Same with cell phones: You can use them at any point in time, but they were created only recently.

What I mean is, that's current technology. Now, does current technology exist that allows one to time travel? No? Then we can assume that the woman is from further into the future.

Oh, we still know about this? We still suspect time travel? Then it isn't time travel.

 

Any event in the past can be changed if you travel through time. So if this change has just been discovered and the future police deem it dangerous, they will simply travel back in time, get that woman out of there, and she won't appear on the film. Not appearing means that that guy, in the 2010, will have no woman to see.

 

Of course, it could be a matter of time until this event is changed and we remember nothing of it (since this conversation will never have taken place-and we wouldn't realize/know it since events changed so that it never happened to begin with). Hell, there could have been a fire in my house at this time, but someone from the future came, changed events, and made it so that it never happened. Events took a different turn and reality changed.

 

By the way, this is a load of bullsh*t and I'm simply having fun with how time travel might work. Yeah, she's no time traveler.

I have been following this story on some of the nutball websites and so far the "accepted" theory is that it is further proof of a 911/crop circle/alien invasion/cloud seeding/ fake moon landing scenario orchestrated by Obama .

 

Now for those going "hey there are no cell towers so a mobile won't work" this could be a crack time travelling team sent back in a coordinated effort to undermine our existence . If you cracked the lil issue of time travel I don't think you are going to let the lack of cell towers get in the way of communicating with your Cyberdyne 1000 robot and telling him to put the kettle on.

 

Now obviously rational minds win out here and it is beyond impossible that this is a time traveller that just decided to phone their mates and go "wasssuppp". However there is nothing wrong with having a bit of a "flight of fantasy", at any rate we will probably never know why this woman/man/thing was striking a pose that looks eerily familiar in this day and age
