Hey, I recently Installed GTA 4.

Recommended Posts

I have been playing single-player max graphics ( everything at Very high ) Running smooth.

BUT when i join my brother's server ( LAN ) it lags out when i load in and then kicks me saying " Your computer is running too slow "

I can turn the graphics down to off or low and load in and it does the SAME thing. We bought the game for multiplayer ( we bought it from steam last year for 5 $ ) I've seen these problems on other threads like a year back but they never get a solution the thread just closes.

Please help smile.gif

I can't get the system specs seeing how his computer is passworded.

But i can tell you that he has a dual core 2.6 GHz.

He is using a 256mb g-card.

OP Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3

2gb ram.

My and his computer are almost similar except his IS faster because we had a similar problem with Supreme commander:FA and i had to get a special program so i would be able to connect to his game so it wouldn't kick me.

Thanks for the help colgate.gif

Not much more I can tell you about, to be honest. I know this stuff happens in such occasions and GFWL IS a piece of crap sorry ass platform.

Hopefully someone else with more (some) multiplayer experience can give you some directions.

For one, I'd say to both of you, get a better Graphics Card, more RAM (Random Access Memory) and a faster Processor.. Your 2.2GHz just will not cut it. Not even my Dual Core 4600+ 2.4GHz is fast enough to run GTA IV properly...which is why I have a more powerful one now.

Okay.

I have seen people running gta 4 multiplayer just fine and their system specs are WAY lower than mine.

Also if i create my own multiplayer game then it kicks me for " Your computer is running too slowly "

GTA IV does not say "Kicked by Admin". Unless you joined someone's game and they have the Alexander Blade's Network Kicker. I suggest you and your friend get more RAM, a better Video Card and a new (more powerful CPU). 2.2GHz is not good enough for GTA IV...not even 2.4GHz is good enough, and that's the minimum specification Clock Speed for the game! suicidal.gif

I am guessing your motherboard is a Socket 939 because of the Dual Core X2 4200+. Upgrade your motherboard to an AM2/AM2+ or AM3. Or if you want Intel, go for the Socket 775 LGA motherboards. Intel Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo's are compatible with 775. Heck, even Intel Pentium's are. wink.gif

(NOTE: For some people Intel Pentium 4 is a heater. It can heat up fairly quickly from my own experience. My dads CPU has hit 110 degrees celcius and still works...and it's at like 70-80'C. wow.gif)

Okay do you know any way just to play like on lowest settings with each other?

Also, Sound problem when i load in loading screen music continues to play and "changing radio" noise plays whenever switching through radio stations, car screeching forever after hitting SPACE. Is there a fix to this problem?

1. How and where did you get GTA IV from? (I want no lies. If it's purchased OK. If it's a torrent downloaded, then I give no help). This is very suspicious. GTA IV legit copy does not have sound issues. (from my experience anyway) Have you both updated your game to the latest 1.0.7.0 patch? Ifnot, please download the patch from here: http://support.rockstargames.com/help/rock...s/GTAIV_patch_7

EDIT: Also please go to www.SystemRequirementsLab.com and do a System Requirement test.

If he says he's running smooth, whatever, let him say what he wants, now this topic is to solve his MULTIPLAYER problem, not his system if SP is okay. It might even be network lag.

Post the result image. (the speed image) of your game.

How?

Right click the image and click "Copy Image Location". Then paste it here.

Yes, but if he doesn't meet the requirements, he can't play online, can he.... Since his computer is "running to slowly" that indicates either, RAM, CPU or Graphics Card is incapable of running multiplayer.

Had a worse GFX card, I could MP. wink.gif
