I started a topic a while back petitioning the staff to bring it back. Had a number of vets on board, but still no dice.

 

But I do agree, bring it back. We have a "rant" topic, how is that any different (other than being much more unorganized than a forum)?

From what I have gathered though, I do know there's one member who's already posted in this topic that I'd love to take a swing at.

The Pit was a forum where the "no flaming" rule was reversed. It allowed people to post topics within the forum ranting about a specific topic or member, and gave members with e-beef a place to duke it out, so to speak. It kept long bitchy posts out of the rest of the forum, as if you had words for somebody, you could take it to the pit.

 

I only posted once or twice in there, however, it definitely kept topics a bit more focused, without the incessant bitching and nagging (especially from vets).

Ah, ok, that's pretty much the impression I had of the forum. It does seem like one of those things you had to actually see fro yourself to have a leg to stand on if you want it back/don't want it back.

Yeah, I've heard about that little revival. I'm pretty sure I either wasn't here at the time (October's pretty late in the year, I guess) or I was busy being an annoying little GTAIV fanboy in the dedicated forums. Shame. I would've enjoyed seeing it would have I reckon, even if we were barred from posting/viewing it.

Well I for one would like to pay no taxes for the rest of my life. At the end of the day the subject of hating taxes will keep coming back from multiple members of society and the only way to stop people asking for it would be to eliminate taxes for everyone. Common sense, really.

 

Sounds like a good idea, but there's a hard and fast reason we need the tax system for society to function optimally, just as there was a hard and fast reason The Pit was closed to ensure the forum community functioned well. I can't remember it exactly right now but if you do your own research you'll find that it's been posted numerous times by different Mods/Admins.

 

Also, in recent times, you are the only person to post a new topic about it. So your assertion that people have been posting repeat topics about it is validated only by your own actions.

As for people having changed and newer members being better about it. F*ck that noise. Hardly anything changes about this place apart from the perspective. In general people say the quality of GenChat is declining, actually, as opposed to the idea that times/people have changed for the better. But it hasn't changed, this place has always been populated with terrible topics and beefs about nothing. It's just that people grow up and realise what retards they were being, by which time the replacement wave has arrived and the average IQ re-anchors itself back to the sub-100 mark.
