valo666
Hello, I registered on this forum just to get help with a graphics problem I'm having. I just bought GTA 4 (retail version) and installed it. I also let Windows Live update the game, and it appears to be version 1.0.7.0 now. It seems to run just fine except a graphics problem that only seems to occur while driving around some areas. While driving across a bridge I noticed the problem, and I've seen it in a few other spots too. I'm not sure exactly what's happening, but it looks like it isn't loading some textures, so I was hoping someone here would be able to tell me what's causing this. I'll include an image of the problem so hopefully someone can tell what the problem is by looking at it. Here is the image of the problem. Girish
And you have tried updating your video drivers? Also, more importantly, we need to know your entire system specifications. What settings are you running the game at? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/461680-graphics-problem/#findComment-1060175111 Share on other sites

valo666
I pretty much run it on the low settings since my computer can't handle much more than that. My system specs are pretty much identical to the system requirements. I meant to post my specs in my original post but I got too distracted trying to get my screenshot of the problem. It happens so briefly it took me forever to get a shot of what was happening. Here's my system specs: CPU - Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz (systemrequirementslab.com says "You Have: 2.00 GHz Performance Rated at: 3 GHz", but I'm not sure what that means exactly) Memory - 2.0 GB ( DDR2 I believe) OS - Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 Video Card - ATI Radeon HD4850 with 512MB GDDR3 video ram, Core Clock 625 MHz, Memory Clock 993 MHz, Total Memory Bandwidth 63.6 GByte/s If there's anything else I need to post please let me know. System Requirements Lab passed me on everything but the CPU, but passed me on the CPU speed. I thought that was kind of weird, but I guess there's something else about my CPU that didn't meet the requirements even though they only showed CPU speed. The game runs pretty well and I don't see any major problems other than this graphics problem. Below is a screen of my game settings. Oh I almost forgot, yes my video drivers are up to date. In fact, the drivers I have for my card were released only 2 days ago. I made sure to remove the old drivers and I ran a program called Driver Sweeper to make sure everything was removed before installing new drivers. Oh and also nothing is overclocked on my system. I'm too afraid to even try overclocking anything. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/461680-graphics-problem/#findComment-1060175803 Share on other sites
mkey82
You can try using memrestrict, not sure if that will help. I also had that bullsh*t and I'm quite sure it's "caused" by frequent driver updates as it disappeared on a fresh OS install and started coming back after a few driver changes. valo666
I'm quite sure it's "caused" by frequent driver updates I bet that's my problem. I have a folder that has most of the video drivers I've used for my card, and there's 8 of them in there. Plus some of the drivers I didn't even save, so I know it should be more than 8 if I had saved them all. I've tried several video drivers lately because of World of Warcraft. Their latest patch caused my game to run like crap in some areas so I assumed it was a problem on my end, and of course Blizzard's generic response to any video problem is always to update your video drivers. They rarely ever admit that the problem is on their end, and that they screwed up. There was an updated driver I had missed so I installed it, and a few days later there was an even newer driver so I installed it. Then I find out way too many people are having the same problem, so I knew it had to be something they screwed up with the game. I think for now I'll just ignore the problem with GTA 4 as long as it won't hurt anything. It's not even remotely as bad as some of the glitches in WoW from their big patch they just recently put out. Lots of people are having crashes as a result of not only clicking on certain objects in the game, but just having your mouse cursor over those objects causes crashes. It feels like they didn't even test it, lol. I might try memrestrict for GTA 4 and see if there's anything that might help fix that little glitch.
