graphic poblems that has no fix or does it?

Recommended Posts

first of all, forgive my grammar because English isnt really my country's language forte.

my PC spec is

Video Card - ATI Sapphire HD5750 1gig

CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 BSS Processor

Memory - 4.00 GB (32.5 GB usable)

OS - windows 7 (32bit)

1600x1200 resolution

Now here is the problem.

After i Install GTA4, then play it.

On first cut scenes, all the details of the game is

all moving (jaggering) as if there is an earthquake. The posters on the wall, the logo of the cars, the lights, the edges of walls, the head of characters are all shaking like everything about to fall off.

And i have this tremendous lag that leaves the game unplayable. And after a while, my PC Shuts down after around 5-10 min of playing.

Then i downloaded the latest patch 1.0.7.0.

After the patch, i played it again, the largeness of the games had vanished. But the jiggering detail is still there. And my PC still shuts down.

I tried using an old patch. 1.0.5.0.

and its still the same... pls, i dont know how to fix this.

I hope it isn't my vcrd coz i costed me a fortune just to play GTA4.

(On the record i already reinstalled the game for atelast 9x already!!!)

Im really desperate here!!!

Well, i sure hope that can fix my problem.

It really didnt cross my mind, coz ive ben playing mafia 2 recently with all high setting and Starcraft 2 (all high also) on 1600x1200 resolution.

It didnt cross my mind to update my vcrd driver coz those 2 games are all latest. And i thought... my vcrd doesnt need an update coz gta 4 is alrady old compare to my video card. (well, thats what i thought)

tell me about it man, my electric bill on this fridge is one hell of a headache already just to fix this thing up! Im currently DL for the latest driver of my vcrd. I hope it does work. Coz if it doesnt... i have no clue what to do next.

no doubt the game is old, but the patch is new...

dude i seriously think that on your PC GTA IV will perform more than great..

it should in fact, but unfortunately R* didnt optimize it well

after I installed the game on my first try, without any patches... and using my vcrd.

My vcrd was realeasd around late 2010 with its bundle drivers.

Doesnt it suppose to play that GTA4(withoutpatch) properly with my lates vcrd?

in some cases, the latest drivers wont work... yeah its true.

you may have to google a lot and find a specific version..

but its just some cases, not all though

uhmm .. o yeah, almost forgot to ask.

Have you also had a "shuttingdownpcafter5010min" problem? coz i do!!!!

if the shutdowns occur at any time, not during IV.. then its definitely your PC which is causing it..

like i said, in some cases, wrong drivers will end your gameplay with a blue screen a.k.a BSOD

well... it only shuts down on GTA4.

i know that your problem in the end is definitely gonna be solved, but i have a greater problem than yours....

i have reached to a point in a game where all my loading screens freeze...! the game loads, loads, loads, loads................

$hit never end.. and so far i havent been able to find a solution on the internet.

every time after a cutscene, the game starts a never ending loading screen..

and the worst part,.. i have an original copy of the game.!

completed 72 missions, but now i cant start any mission i.e i cant complete the game

driver.. definitely.

i finished installing the the latest driver.

Its still the same man. The walls are still blinking (moving).

But i can feel the laggeness has been dramatically removed. The only problem now is the detalis are all moving.

if you use a commandline, let me know what kind is it??

BTW, you didnt say anything about the gameplay..

after skipping the cutscene... does game lag while playing, and do textures always popup and stuff??

DONT FORGET TO CLICK PAGE 2 ON THE FORUMS..

if the posts go above 20..

probably a glitch??? well. maybe you can DL some saved games around.

well., good thing for you, you got to experience playing Niko Belic, aside from me who still cant fix this rig just to play GTA4.

command line????

-----------------

the game play is already playable, no lag at all, good FPS.

the big problem really is those details on every corner of the game.

The walls are all shaking, as if its like its liberty city is having an earth quake.

Also, when yr indoors, the mugs, posters, bench, chairs, beds, are also shaking.

command line is an awesome feature in GTA IV..

first of all, go to the GTA IV directory and create a text file, name it 'commandline' with out the quotes..

now you can put the following command in the file and the game will read them before starting:

Tools

-benchmark: Runs the benchmark tool and immediately exits game.

-help: Display list of all command line options

Graphics

-renderquality: Set the render quality of the game. (0-4)

-shadowdensity: Set the shadow density of the game. (0-16)

-texturequality: Set the texture quality of the game. (0-2)

-viewdistance: Set the view distance of the game (0-99)

-detailquality: Set the detail quality of the game. (0-99)

-novblank: Disable wait for vblank (No Vsync)

-norestrictions: Do not limit graphics settings

-width: Set width of main render window (default is 800)

-height: Set height of main render window (default is 600)

-safemode: Run the graphics in the lowest setting possible

-frameLimit: Limit frame to interval of refresh rate (ex If refreshrate is 60HZ –frameLimit 1 = Locks down to 60HZ)

-refreshrate: Set the refresh rate of main render window – Warning - Monitor must support (ex. –refreshrate 60)

-fullscreen: Force fullscreen mode

-windowed: Force windowed mode

-availablevidmem: Set amount of physical Video Memory(ex. –availablevidmem 0.9)

-percentvidmem: Percentage of video memory to make available to GTA

Audio

-fullspecaudio: Force high-end CPU audio footprint

-minspecaudio: Force low-end CPU audio footprint

System

-noprecache: Disable precache of resources

-nomemrestrict: Disable memory restrictions

-memrestrict 188743680 LOW TEXTURES (256M Video Cards)

-memrestrict 209715200

-memrestrict 230686720

an example of the command line file...

open the file first and add this..

-norestrictions

-memrestrict 230686720

save the file..

i already created the notepad named commandline.

what should i put it inside?

this???

not this, these are switches actually used with launchgtaiv.exe.. thats another story, but right now...

i'll give an example..

add this in file

-norestrictions

-novblank

-renderquality 2

-shadowdensity 15

-texturequality 2

-frameLimit

save the file then

Hey, the lag problem is caused by a program called Windows Event Logger, it's because Windows 7, it helped me.

Google it on how to turn it off, im kinda in a rush.

Hope it helps

well, tha lagness is fix already, thnks for the driver updates and patches, the only problem now is the shaking walls, oobjects, etc.

its still the same man,...

pasted this on my commandline

---------------------

-nomemrestrict

-norestrictions

-novblank

-percentvidmem 100 -DX9 /high

-renderquality 2

-shadowdensity 15

-texturequality 2

-frameLimit

----------------------------

and the gameplay kinda lagged, yet still to no avail, the shaking objects are still there.
