Anyone running GTA IV from a 'Virtual CD'

Recommended Posts

I have a program called Virtual Drive Pro that I use to load CD or DVD images onto the hard drive. It makes it easier and quicker as you don't have to keep placing the original disk in the CD tray, so especially useful with games :

But I can't get it to work with GTA IV due to a security issue. Basically, the GTA application knows that I'm running from an image file and not the original DVD, and stops me doing this (I can understand why, and I'm all for anti-piracy policies).

Does anyone know how I can get round this though as it is a bit of a pain, and my 1 1/2 year old son keeps opening the CD tray and walking away with the DVD ! sneaky2.gif

Teach your son that this is daddy's stuff and to respect it (have a nice talk with him, kids learn fast). If that don't work see if you can disable the eject button. At least your child just ejects the tray, I've heard others where they will eject the tray and put a cup in it. biggrin.gif

Its SecuRom. Its a DRM that despite hundreds of millions in investments, fails to stop actual piracy, and instead creates problems for legitimate end-users. It kind of violates rules to help people bypass it here unfortunately. But you can guess what you have to do..you wont need virtual CD software after you do it either. There is also a way to keep MP too if you search enough.
