ICy92
Hey to all I am making a movie and i want to record it in high quality with fraps. My problem is that the textures seems to load slowly <---- and the draw distance is very low.(Even if i set the draw distance to the max in the display settings) Ingame i have 30 - 40 FPS and i don't have any mods installed. Even if i play the game with the lowest settings everytime the same result. Here is an example video what i exactly mean. http://vimeo.com/16030525 And here are my specs: Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU: Intel pentium 4 3.2 GHz RAM: 2 GB DDR2 Graphiccard: ATi Radeon x1300/x1550 : Memory Size 256 MB Memory Type DDR1 Core Clock in MHz 446 MHz Memory Clock in MHz 203 MHz And here my GTA San Andreas display settings: Edited October 26, 2010 by ICy92
Jimbatron
The honest truth is you are going to find it hard to run in high quality with a P4 and a 256mb graphics card, let alone record at the same time. However, I did notice that the draw distance seems to have been curtailed, particularly noticable when flying a helicopter, since patches 6 & 7. The trade off appears to be smoother motion (not FPS). I would recommend try downgrading to patch 4 or 5. I got much better performance on my spec, anyway. Unfortunately though this prevents use of multiplayer. The textures of buildings/roads etc. are loading very slow or have short distance :S... That is because of your weak system. Not to mention, you're running Windows 7 which takes up more resources than XP and your video card doesn't have much to begin with. Try everything from the below quote: Advice (produces the best videos): Put "Frame-Limiter" ON (display options advanced) Set FRAPS to record at matching 25 fps. Set FRAPS to display fps (to check that the game maintains ~ 25fps). If you still can't get 25 fps while recording, you can try the following: Restart your computer (occasionally works wonders). Make sure all other programs running in the background is shut down. If you're on a permanent internet connection, - shut it down. Defragment your harddisk. Reduce FRAPS recording size to 1/2. (if your disk is slow, - this should improve things considerably) And/or reduce resolution the game is running at (if your videocard is slow this should improve things considerably) Reduce game draw distance and/or gfx detail. It's not necessarily about fraps... i mean ingame... If i set the game to the lowest quality drawdistance highest i can get, fl off, fx quality low, AA 0 and 640x480. With those settings i can get over 80 FPS and i still get that kinda "bug" with the slow texture loading... so i think there is something that is wrong and not my pc. Because i had sa before this running good with fast texture loading... And if i record a clip with HD settings 1280x720 i have only 20 FPS while recording I am fine with it because i can set in fraps "don't sync audio and video" it automaticlly speed it up to match the 25 fps. I just want to fix the problem with the "slow low" texture loading.
Girish
Well, have you tried everything suggested in the above quote by GTA Phreak? Considering you have no other graphical applications running in the background, remember that your OS, the game and Fraps; all of them eat into your video memory at the same time. 256 MB isn't really much in this case and that could be why the textures take time to load. Uh, What are you talking about, there is NO patch 4, 5, 6, or 7 for SA. There is No patch at all for V2 and V3(only ones sold today)-only V1 had a patch-and it was just 1 patch-to remove the Hot Coffee and a few bug fixes.? on-topic- Have you tried turning the AA to off? Also, try adjusting the fps settings for Fraps. Also, setting the Resolution in game to 16 bit instead of 32 might help.? Are ALL your drivers up to date for your Video card, Sound card, DX, etc.? The OP accidentally posted this topic in the GTA IV forums and it was moved here later. Jimbatron assumed the OP was talking about GTA IV and hence, his post.
